Joseon Sideline-products Exhibition(朝鮮副業品共進會) was held in Gyeonbokgung(景福宮) under the Japanese Government General of Korea(朝鮮總督府) and Joseon Agricultural Association(朝鮮農會) during October 5 to 24, 1923. There are various research results about expositions and competitive exhibitions which held in Japanese colonial period but study about Joseon Sideline-products Exhibition are few. Therefore this paper researches the reason for its holding, process, executives and staff members so that Joseon Sideline-products Exhibition can be investigated. Also this paper aim to investigate how Joseon Sideline-products Exhibition affected Koreans. The Japanese Government General of Korea took place Joseon Sideline-products Exhibition to stimulate the rural economy of Joseon by encouraging sideline. They display the quality product from all over the country and sold the product during the Exhibition so that people can have interest in sideline. According to the records, 11,821 products were submitted and put on display. And They gave a prize to 3,357 products among them. Most of items related to agriculture and high ranking products was encouraging sideline item by the Japanese Government General of Korea. In addition to display sideline-products, various form of entertainment was provided for visitors. To increase consciousness of sideline, they hold a prize contest for slogans, cartoons, thesis about sideline. At first glance, it seems to be successful because visitors were 400,000. The executives and staff members who ran Joseon Sideline- products Exhibition were made up of the Japanese Government General of Korea officials, local government officials, Joseon Agricultural Association officials, Fisheries Association officials, the mining industry officials and the livestock industry officials. There was also Gyeongseong Sponsorhsip Association(京城協贊會) apart from executives and staff members, which managed entertainment business and took care of visitors. There was appraisal for being successful, but was a lot of criticism also. The point of criticism is that sideline can not be a fundamental solution. Also One-time events(Joseon Sideline-products Exhibition) can not encourage sideline. Moreover it is confirmed that there was little economic stimulus through hosting Joseon Sideline- products Exhibition.

1923년 10월 5일부터 24일까지 朝鮮總督府와 朝鮮農會의 주관하에 朝鮮副業品共進會가 景福宮에서 개최되었다. 일제시기 개최되었던 다양한 博覽會와 共進會에 대한 기존 연구 성과 중 조선부업품공진회에 대한 것은 미비하다. 이에 이 논문에서는 조선부업품공진회의 개최배경과 진행과정을 살펴보고 임원진 구성을 파악하여 조선부업품공진회의 성격을 규명하고자 하였다. 또한 조선부업품공진회의 개최가 조선인에게 어떠한 영향을 주었는지도 함께 살펴보고자 하였다. 조선부업품공진회는 조선 농촌 경제 회복을 위해 副業을 장려하는 차원에서 개최되었다. 조선 전국의 유망하고 모범적인 부업품들을 모아 전시하여 관람객들이 부업에 대한 관심을 가지게 하고자 하였으며 공진회 기간 동안 부업품의 판매까지 진행하였다. 이에 조선 전국에서 11,821개의 부업품이 출품되어 전시되었으며, 이 중 3,357개에 상을 수여하였다. 출품된 부업품들은 대부분 농업과 관련된 것들로 주요 상을 수상한 부업품들은 조선총독부가 장려하는 부업품들이었다. 부업에 대한 전시 외에도 각종 여흥과 볼거리를 제공하여 전국에서 모인 관람객들의 시선을 모았으며 부업 관련한 표어, 만화, 논문 등도 공모하여 조선인의 부업에 대한 의식을 높이고자 하였다. 약 20여일간 열린 공진회의 관람자수는 약 40여만명으로 일견 성공적으로 보인다. 조선부업품공진회를 움직인 임직원은 조선총독부 관리 및 지방관리들, 조선농회 임원, 지방 유력자들, 농업․수산업․산림업․광업․축산업 관련자 등으로 이루어졌다. 이 외에도 京城協贊會도 별도로 운용하였는데 협찬회는 주로 공진회 관람객과 관리와 여흥 사업에 대한 관리를 한 것으로 확인된다. 약 40만여명의 관람객을 동원한 조선부업품공진회는 성공적이라는 평가도 있으나 그 효과에 대한 비판도 만만치 않았다. 부업은 조선 농촌 문제의 근원적 해결 방책도 아닐뿐더러 또한 일회성 공진회를 통해 부업 장려는 이루어질 수 없다는 비판이 그것이다. 부업품공진회를 통한 京城 시내 경제적 상승 효과 역시 미미한 것으로 확인되었다.
