Because president Park Geun-hye during a New Year press conference held at Cheongwadae Choon-choo Gwan on January 6th, 2014 referenced 'unification jackpot' and the power succession of Jung-eun Kim, there's been an increased focus on the possibility of a Korean unification. Recently, there's been a lot of suggestions of different possible scenarios of the process for a Korean unification. One thing that's for sure is that no matter what scenario, the unification needs to be lead directly by South Korea. Then what are some of the most important external factors for a Korean unification lead by Korea? There's probably a lot of external factors for a Korean unification, but the most important one will probably be China. This is primarily because China is a superpower within the area and have the closest association to the issue in the peninsula. There's no doubt that depending on the type of stance and reaction that China shows to the Korean unification lead by Korea, the probabilities of unification will be influenced greatly. As such, the following study explains the factors for military intervention in the Korean peninsula by China as seen by academia, and compares these factors to Sun Tzu's the Art of War for correlation analysis. Military theory suggested by the Art of War, one of the best regarded book on military strategy, is underwent comparative analysis against factors that influence military intervention to the Korean peninsula by current day China. The study further analyzes the possibility of military theory set forth by the Art of War fully explaining the factors for current day military intervention by looking into the Japanese Invasion of Korea in 1592, a case study for military intervention in the Korean peninsula.

2014년 1월 6일 박근혜 대통령이 청와대 춘추관에서 열린 신년 기자회견에서 ‘통일은 대박’이라는 언급을 하는 등 김정은으로의 권력승계 과정에서 한반도 통일 가능성에 대해 많은 관심이 집중되어왔다. 최근 과연 한반도가 통일된다면 어떠한 과정을 통해 통일에 될 것인 가에 대한 다양한 시나리오가 제기되있다. 분명한 것은 어떠한 시나리오든지 우리나라가 주 도하는 형태의 통일이 되어야 한다는 것이다. 그렇다면 한국 주도의 한반도 통일에 있어 가 장 중요한 외부적 변수는 무엇일까? 한반도 통일에 있어 많은 외부적 변수가 있겠지만 가장 중요한 것은 바로 중국이 될 것이 다. 역내 강대국으로서 강력한 영향력을 행사하고 있으며, 한반도 문제와 가장 밀접한 연관 성을 가지고 있기 때문이다. 중국이 한국 주도의 한반도 통일에 대해 어떠한 입장과 대응을 하느냐에 따라 한국 주도의 한반도 통일 가능성은 크게 영항을 받을 것이 분명하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존 학계에서 주장하는 중국의 대한반도 군사개입 요인을 설명하고 이러한 요인들을 손무의 군사사상인 손자병법에 대입하여 그 상관성을 분석해보고자 한다. 동서고금을 막론하고 최고의 병법서중 하나로 손꼽히는 손자병법에 제시된 군사사상과 오 늘날 중국의 한반도에 대한 군사개입 결정 요인들을 비교 분석하여, 이러한 손자병법의 군 사사상이 오늘날의 군사개입 요인을 충분히 설명할 수 있음을 한반도 군사개입 사례 중 하 나인 임진왜란 분석을 통해 밝히고자 한다.
