This study investigates active communication with works beyond the level of acquiring information through active touch-based appreciation activities. Active impression enhances our understanding and perception of various human images and cultures as expressed by the artist's gaze. In addition, it reduces the disparity in interpretations of messages between the blind and the non-blind, which inevitably arises from the limitations of visual acuity, and thus facilitates smooth communication and presents an opportunity to recognize oneself anew. In order to improve the awareness of non-visually-impaired people with regard to artistic activities through a precise understanding of the interaction between senses and brain plasticity and to facilitate the desire of the visually impaired to create, the planning and exhibiting of a program are undertaken to appreciate art works using tactile sensibility as an alternative for the visually impaired.

본 연구는 능동적 촉감각 기반 감상활동을 통해 단순한 정보 습득의 차원을 넘어서 작품과의 능동적 소통을 목적으로 한다. 능동적인 감상은 작가의 시선으로 표현된 다양한 인간상과 문화에 대한 이해도와 지각력을 향상시킨다. 또한 시감각의 제약으로 불가피하게 발생했던 시각장애인과 비시각장애인 간의 메시지 해석의 격차를 줄여 원활한 소통을 돕고, 자기 자신을 새롭게 인식할 수 있는 기회를 갖게 한다. 감각과 뇌가소성의 상호작용에 대한 정확한 이해를 통해 예술 활동에 대한 비시각장애인의 인식 개선을 도모하고 시각장애인들의 창작에 대한 욕구를 알리고자, 비시각장애인들도 시각장애인들의 시감각 대체 수단인 촉감각을 활용하여 작품을 감상할 수 있도록 So通 전을 기획, 전시하였다.
