In the reality of the era of the fourth industrial revolution, Galapagos Syndrome can no longer be confined to the meaning expressed in the technical dimension. Currently, there is a demand for the transformation of education that can overcome only deflected and local intellectuals of university students who are the future knowledge of Korea, which can be said to be in the top place of the world at the same time with the absence of direction for education in Korea. The specific and practical reality of this can be applied in connection with the intellectual ability of Koreans. Although the intellectual level of Koreans(Richard Lynn's 2002 study, the Korean average IQ index is 106, ranking second in the world)) is the highest, it is caused by the uniform teaching method that is passive, passive and intellectually biased. Therefore, most of the revised curriculum in 2007 has debate class in relation to teaching and learning methods and evaluation items in curriculum. However, reality is still lecture class, and discussion class is proceeding in very few lectures. In order to improve this reality, new changes in liberal arts education are urgently required. The formation of new frame for lecture method and the modification of net function that debate class brings can be anticipated by sequentially correcting and supplementing it. Discussion lesson is the best way to train creative talent with intelligence and emotion required by the 4th Industrial Revolution era. Discussion A variety of intellectual activities that occur during the preparation and discussion process for classroom instruction can double intellectual levels. In addition, group activities such as presentations, commentaries, group discussions, and pros and cons will enhance emotional aspects such as consideration, interest, and listening to humans. Ultimately, this method is linked to the cultivation of human nature, which can contribute greatly to fostering the mature citizens demanded by modern society.

4차 산업혁명시대가 도래한 현실에서 ‘갈라파고스 신드롬’은 더 이상 기술적 차원에서 회자되는 의미에만 국한시킬 수 없다. 현재 한국의 교육에 대한 방향성의 부재와 동시에 세계 최상위권에 위치한다고 할 수 있는 한국의 미래 지식층인 대학생들이 안고 있는 편향되고 지엽적인 지적 자만을 극복할 수 있는 교육의 전환이 요구되고 있다. 이에 관한 구체적이고 실제적인 현실상황은 한국인의 지적 능력과 연계해서 생각해 볼 수 있다. 한국인의 지적 능력(Richard Lynn의 2002년 연구결과에 따르면 한국인의 평균 IQ 지수가 106으로 세계 2위) 수준은 최상위권임에도 불구하고 수동적이고 소극적이며 지적으로 편향된 학생들이 양산되는 데에는 획일적으로 이루어지고 있는 강의식 교육방법에 원인이 있다고 할 수 있다. 그래서 2007년 개정 교육과정은 대부분 교과에서 교수·학습 방법과 평가 항목과 관련해서 토론식 수업을 강조하고 있다. 그러나 현실은 여전히 강의식 수업이 주를 이루고 있으며, 토론식 수업은 극히 소수의 강좌에서 진행되고 있는 실정이다. 이러한 현실을 개선하기 위해 교양교육에서의 새로운 변화가 절실히 요청된다. 강의방식에 대한 새로운 프레임의 형성과 이를 순차적으로 수정·보완하면서 토론수업이 가져다주는 순기능의 변화를 기대해 볼 수 있다. 토론식 수업은 4차 산업혁명시대가 요구하는 지능(지성)과 감각(감성)을 겸비한 창의융합형 인재를 양성할 수 있는 최고의 수업방식이라고 할 수 있다. 토론식 수업을 진행하기 위한 준비과정과 토론과정에서 발생하는 다양한 지적활동은 지적 수준을 배가시킬 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 발표-논평, 그룹토의, 찬반 토론 등의 그룹 활동은 인간에 대한 배려와 관심, 경청 등의 감성적 측면의 능력을 향상시키게 된다. 궁극적으로 이 방식은 인성함양과 연계되어 있기 때문에 현대사회가 요구하는 성숙한 시민을 양성하는데 크게 기여할 수 있다.
