The purpose of this study is to clarify the concept of emotion in the social studies education. For this aim, first, the ‘emotional domain’ was divided into three levels of ‘feeling’, ‘emotion’ and ‘affect’ by examining various concepts and definitions surrounding emotions. On the basis of the ‘Affect Theory’, ‘feeling’ was conceptualized as a sensory(physical) dimension, ‘emotion’ as a personal and social dimension, and ‘affect’ as an interactive dimension of the emotional domain. Next, based on the conceptual framework of the emotional domain derived from the above, a new conceptual framework of the affective domain based on the ‘emotional domain’ and ‘interaction process’ was suggested by critically analyzing the affective domain in the pedagogy. Through this process, the researcher tried to establish a theoretical basis for the logic of inquiry about the emotional domain behind the values in the social studies education.

본 연구는 사회과 교육에서 감정의 개념을 명료화하는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 우선, 감정을 둘러싼 다양한 개념과 정의를 고찰하여 ‘감정 영역’을 ‘느낌(feeling)’, ‘감정(emotion)’, ‘정동(affect)’의 세 가지 수준으로 구분하였고, ‘정동 이론’을 바탕으로 ‘느낌’은 감각적(신체적) 차원의 감정 영역, ‘감정’은 개인적·사회적 차원의 감정 영역, ‘정동’은 상호작용적 차원의 감정 영역으로 개념화하였다. 다음으로, 앞에서 도출한 감정 영역에 대한 개념틀을 바탕으로 교육학의 정의적 영역을 비판적으로 분석하여, ‘감정 영역’과 ‘상호작용 과정’을 중심으로 한 사회과 교육에 적합한 새로운 정의적 영역의 개념틀을 제안하였다. 이러한 과정을 통해 사회과 교육에서 가치 이면에 있는 감정 영역들에 대한 탐구 논리를 구상할 수 있는 이론적인 토대를 마련하고자 하였다.
