The purpose of this study is to compare the male and female differences of the Japanese politeness strategy used in the praise expression. The politeness strategy of praise expression in the process of conversation was a difference between male and female. Women used a lot of appreciation type, pleasure expression type, encouragement type, explanation type, and doubtful expression type. On the other hand, men used the politeness strategy of agreement type, the joke type, the rejection･abasement type, and embarrassment type relatively. This study is a cross-section of expression of praises, and it is likely that the survey results will vary according to the circumstances and conditions.

본 논문에서는 일본어의 칭찬표현에서 사용되는 politeness strategy의 남녀차를 대조하고자 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 담화과정에서 나타나는 칭찬표현의 politeness strategy는 남녀의 차이가 있었는데, 여성은 감사형, 기쁨표현형, 격려형, 설명형, 의구심 표시형 등을 비교적 많이 사용하였고, 남성은 동의형, 농담형, 거절･비하형, 당혹감 표시형의 politeness 전략을 비교적 많이 사용하였다. 이 조사연구는 칭찬과 칭찬의 응답표현의 한 단면임을 밝혀두고, 상황이나 조건에 따라 조사결과가 달라질 가능성은 충분히 있으리라 생각된다.
