Defence capabilities are a critical part of the European Union’s (EU) holistic policy in the interaction with other entities on the global stage. Despite contemporary challenges, the EU has become a credible agent in the field of crisis management. The development of an integrated security policy, therefore, has become a pivotal task for the Republic of Serbia in order to meet two major national objectives: territorial integrity and its membership into the EU. Despite its troubled history with Kosovo, Serbia is optimistic and looking forward towards European integration. This paper examines the implications of the Serbian accession into the EU’s defence structures for the Common Security and Defence Policy by analysing political and military aspect of the process. Participation in missions under the EU umbrella could contribute to the increased Serbian credibility within the European community and, therefore, contribute to the success of the Serbian National Security Strategy.

방위능력은 유럽연합이 세계의 다른 나라들과의 외교적 관계에서 가장 중요한 정책 중 하나이다. 현대 국제관계의 많은 방위와 연관된 도전에도 불구하고 유럽연합은 세계에서 가장 믿을만한 위기관리 능력 을 보유하고 있는 것으로 평가할 수 있다. 통합 안보정책의 발전은 세르비아공화국이 국토의 통합과 유 럽연합 회원국 가입이라는 두 가지 가장 핵심적인 국가전략을 달성하는 데에 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 코소보,와 갈등의 역사에도 불구하고 세르비아는 유럽통합에 긍정적이고 적극적인 태도를 보이고 있다. 본 논문은 세르비아의 유럽연합 가입과 공동안보방위정책 참여의 의의를 정치적, 군사적 측면에서 분석 하려고 한다. 유럽연합의 영향력 하로의 직접적 참여는 세르비아의 유럽에서의 국가적 신뢰성을 더욱 공 고히 할 뿐만 아니라 세르비아의 국가안보전략을 달성하는 데에 매우 긍정적인 역할을 할 것이다.
