Various nationalist political forces emerged in Ukraine since independence. However, the social status and influence of the nationalist political parties were weak. This fact was clearly demonstrated in the 1990’s and 2000’s Ukrainian general elections. In the 2000’s Ukrainian nationalist parties began to pursue a new development strategy for their future. Among these parties, ‘Svoboda’ achieved great success in 2009 and 2010 local elections and general elections in 2012. ‘Svoboda’ has entered into the central and local councils as an independent political force. In addition, Nationalist political forces such as ‘Svoboda’ have played a leading role in the process of anti- government protests in 2013. If we consider the political process in Ukraine since independence, It can be concluded as follows. Nationalist forces in the political arena were just a marginal existence. It can be defined that their political influence was also quite limited. However, political success of ‘Svoboda’ and the nationalist political forces in the anti-government protest have very important political implications in the history of nationalist movement in Ukraine. These events raise the need to give it a new valuation of nationalist political forces. As a result, these cases raise the need of new evaluation for nationalist political forces in Ukraine.

독립 이후 우크라이나에서 다양한 민족주의 정치세력들이 활동하게 되었다. 그렇지만, 우크 라이나의 정치과정에서 민족주의 정당들의 사회적 위상과 영향력은 상당히 미약한 수준이었다. 이러한 점은 1990년대와 2000년대 실시된 일련의 총선 결과들에서 분명하게 입증되었다. 2000년대 들어서 우크라이나 민족주의 정당들은 새로운 자구책을 강구하기 시작했다. 이 가운데 ‘Svoboda’는 2009년과 2010년 지방선거와 2012년 총선에서 큰 성공을 거두게 되었다. ‘Svoboda’ 독자적인 정치세력으로 중앙과 지방 의회에 당당하게 입성하게 되었다. 게다가, ‘Svoboda’와 같은 민족주의 정치 세력들은 2013년 반정부 시위과정에서도 주도적인 역할을 담당했다. 독립 이후 우크라이나의 정치과정 전반을 고찰해 볼 때, 정치권 내부에서 민족주의 세력은 거의 주변 적인 존재에 불과했으며, 이들의 정치적 영향력도 상당히 제한적인 수준이었다고 정의할 수 있겠다. 하 지만, 2000년대 이후 Svoboda의 정치적 성공과 우크라이나 반정부 시위 사태에서 민족주의 정치세력의 존재는 우크라이나 민족주의 운동사에서 매우 중요한 정치적 함의를 내포하고 있었다. 결론적으로 이러 한 사건들은 우크라이나에서 민족주의 정치세력에 대한 새로운 가치평가의 필요성을 제기해 주고 있다.
