The purpose of this study is to investigate some visual aspects of children's 'bullying', among the social problems that can happen to children in Korean society are expressed visually in the picture book. To this purpose, we analyzed the destructive aspects and overcoming patterns of 'bullying' through the plot of picture book and the narrative of whole image. In order to analyze the formative characteristics of visual expression, we analyzed based on the analysis framework applied by Kress and Leeuween' s visual design grammar. As a result of analysis, the destructive aspect of 'bullying' is revealed through comparative action and expresses overcoming through interchange action. As a characteristic of interactional functions, the provision of information was dominant. The social distance was mainly used for the middle distance, but the nearness was used to describe the self - destructive aspect of bullying. The eye point of the observer is often used as a point of view. The feature of constructive function is mainly composed of left and right surroundings, but when 'bullying' is overcome, the arrangement is shifted to the center of the screen. I also found that the figurative elements used by the picture book writer to express overcoming bullying are light, color, and frame. As a conclusion, My pal Choi Young dae, showed a characteristic that reflects the school bullying, visually and clearly. In addition, it has played a meaningful role in the visual expression of the 'bullying' of the child by the action, response, tool and environment, social distance, viewpoint, mode, arrangement. I was able to see how it effectively communicated to the reader.

본 연구는 한국사회의 아동들에게 일어날 수 있는 사회문제 중‘집단 따돌림’의 전개와 극복 양상이 그림동화에서 시각적으로 어떻게 표현되고 있는지 규명하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 그림동화의 줄거리와 이미지 전체의 내러티브를 통해‘집단 따돌림’에서 발생하는 파괴적 양상과 극복 양상을 분석하였다. 시각적 표현의 조형적 특성을 분석하기 위해 크레스와 리우웬의 시각디자인 문법을 적용한 분석틀을 사용하였다. 분석 결과,‘집단 따돌림’의 파괴적 양상은 비교류적 행위작용을 통해 드러나고, 교류적 작용을 통해 극복을 표현하는 것으로 나타났다. 상호작용적 기능의 특징으로는 정보를 보여주는 제공이 지배적이었다. 사회적 거리는 중간거리가 주로 사용되었으나, 주인공의 소외감을 묘사할 때는 근거리도 사용되었다. 시점은 관찰자의 눈높이 시점이 많이 사용되었다. 구성적 기능의 특징은 좌우 주변 배치가 주를 이루지만‘집단 따돌림’이 극복될 때 화면의 중심으로 배치가 옮겨졌다. 또한 그림동화 작가가 집단 따돌림 극복을 표현하기 위해 사용하는 조형적 요소는 빛과 색채 그리고 프레임이라는 사실을 발견했다. 결론적으로 <내 짝꿍 최영대>는 학교문제인 집단 따돌림을 시각적으로 극명하게 반영하는 특성을 나타냈다. 그리고 시각디자인 문법의 행위작용, 반응작용, 도구와 환경, 사회적 거리, 시점, 양태, 배치, 현저성, 프레임이 아동이 처한‘집단 따돌림’의 시각적 표현에 의미 있는 역할을 실행하였으며, 어떻게 효과적으로 독자에게 전달하는지 확인할 수 있었다.
