The purpose of this study is to explore the factors that facilitate and inhibit the linkage between the operation of the Free-semester program and the next semester. In order to do this, I conducted in-depth interviews with the teachers of four schools that are well linked with the Free-semester and normal-semester. As a result of the study, the linkage between Free-semester and normal-semester was generally progressing well in terms of teaching- learning improvement in four schools, but it was difficult to link in career experience. As for the specific linkage patterns, there were 'close linkage of curriculum and teaching methods', 'process-based evaluation expansion rather than results', 'linking with curriculum of curriculum education', and 'external experiential activities linked with creative experience activities'. The factors that facilitate this linkage were 'the culture of sharing and communicating with each other', 'the diffusion of self - innovation capability', 'leadership of leading teachers who wait and encourage', and 'linkage of teacher's grade '. On the other hand, factors that impeded the linkage between Free and general semesters were 'residual traditional evaluation system', 'lack of experience infrastructure and lack of effective programs', 'disconnection of budget support and uncertainty'. Based on these results, it is suggested that constructing a teacher culture for forming co-workers of teachers, establishing a career experience infrastructure connected with local community, and assuring the stability of budget support are needed.

본 연구는 자유학기제의 운영이 다음 학기까지 어떻게 이어지는지에 대한 양상과 자유학기제 연계를 촉진·저해하는 요인을 탐색해보는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 자유학기제 연계가 잘되고 있는 네 학교의 교사들을 심층 면담하여 사례 연구를 수행하였다. 연구 결과, 네 학교에서는 자유학기와 일반학기의 연계가 대체적으로 수업 개선 면에서는 잘 진행되고 있었으나, 외부의 진로체험 활동 연계 차원에서는 교수-학습 영역에 비해 연계에 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 구체적인 연계 양상으로는 ‘교육과정과 수업방법의 긴밀한 연계’, ‘결과보다는 과정 중심의 평가 확대, ’진로 교육의 교과 연계‘, ’창의적 체험활동과 연계한 외부 체험 활동‘의 모습이 나타났다. 이러한 연계를 촉진하는 요인으로는 ’함께 공유하고 소통하는 교사문화‘, ’자생적 혁신역량의 확산‘, ’기다리고 격려해주는 선도교사의 리더십‘, ’학년 간 교사의 연계 구축‘이 있었다. 한편, 자유학기와 일반학기의 연계를 저해하는 요인으로는 ’잔존하는 전통적 평가 체제‘, ’체험 인프라 부족과 내실있는 프로그램의 부재‘, ’예산 지원의 단절과 불확실성‘이 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 교사의 동료성 형성을 위한 교사 문화 구축, 지역사회와 연계한 진로체험 인프라 구축, 그리고 예산 지원의 안정성 담보가 필요함을 제언하였다.
