The purpose of this study is to clarify the present meaning of Gaebyeog Thought and Innaecheon Spirit in Donghak-Chondogyo. These are the core ideas of Donghak Chondogyo. There have been considerable research results of them. Nevertheless, the debate on the contemporary meaning of them was relatively insufficient. In particular, this study aims to reveal the modern significance of them in terms of life, peace, and spiritual restoration. The contents of this study are as follows. First, the process of change of the new building of Donghak Chondogyo’ cosmology was clarified, and the core meaning of Innhaecheon was suggested, and also that Innaecheon is understood as the result of the development of Sichuanju and Yangcheonism, and the contents of 'Yichinwhansung' which is a concrete method of practicing Innaecheon. Second, the background and contents of the construction of the Gaebyeog Thought were discussed through the study of Donghak Canon and the researchers. Third, the way and meaning of Innaecheon, which will contribute to modern civilization, is presented in terms of life, peace and spirituality. The results of this study are as follows. First, Innaecheon of Uiam Son Byeong-hee is embodied as "Yichinwhansung", and this will play a role of spiritual recovery to overcome material civilization. Second, Gaebyeog is a philosophy of civilization that can transform the world of self reliance into a unified world. Third, the spirit of Donghak Chondogyo is in the recovery of life, peace and spirituality, and it can be made into humanity education, healing culture, etc.

이 연구의 목적은 동학 천도교의 개벽사상과 인내천 정신의 현재성을 규명하는 데 있다. 개벽과 인내천은 동학 천도교의 핵심 사상이다. 그동안 이에 대한 상당한 연구 성과가 있었다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이에 대한 현대적 의미를 규명하는 논의는 상대적으로 부족했다. 특히 본 연구는 생명, 평화, 영성 회복의 관점에서 개벽과 인내천의 현대적 의의를 밝히고자 한다. 이 연구의 내용은 다음과 같다. 먼저 동학 천도교의 신관의 변천 과정을 규명함으로써 인내천의 종지를 제시하였다. 인내천은 시천주와 양천주의 발전의 결과로 이해된다는 점과 인내천의 구체적인 실천방법인 ‘이신환성’의 내용을 제시하였다. 둘째, 개벽사상의 성립배경과 그 내용을 동학 경전 및 연구자들의 논의를 통해서 논의하였다. 셋째, 현대문명에 기여하게 될 인내천의 실천방법과 의미를 생명, 평화, 영성의 관점에서 제시하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 의암 손병희의 인내천은 ‘이신환성’으로 구체화되며, 이신환성은 물질문명을 극복할 수 있는 영성회복의 역할을 할것이다. 둘째, 개벽은 각자위심의 세계를 동귀일체의 세계로 전환할 수 있는 문명 전환의 논리이자 철학이다. 셋째, 동학 천도교의 정신은 생명, 평화, 영 성회복에 있으며, 인성교육, 치유문화 등으로 현재화할 수 있다.
