The purpose of this study is to examine the impactive factors on individual level of crime prevention activities. Previous studies supported that individual crime prevention activities could prevent one’s victimization of crime. However, there is not sufficient studies about predictive factors on person’s crime prevention activities. As a result, this study has attempted to examine the influences of demographic characteristics, victimization, perceived risk, informal social control, disorder, police trust and fear of crime. To perform statistical analyses, this study used the data collected from 667 survey participants in city of Daegu. Based on the statistical results, there are the significant differences of predicting factors across crime prevention activities. Among predicting variables, gender, age, education, informal social control, fear of crime has shown the significant effects on protection and avoidance behaviors whileas there were no demographic effects on routine crime prevention activities except for informal social control, disorder, police perception, and fear of crime. Especially, the installation of electronic supervision devices were explained by socio-economic status whileas disorder only explained the target hardening behavior by installation locks. In sum, residents’ crime prevention activities throughout instruments or behaviors are somewhat different. Predictive factors for these activties should carefully detect and suggest different policy approaches in order to activate these activities.

이 연구의 목적은 개인 수준의 범죄예방활동에 영향을 미치는 요인을 파악하기 위한 것이다. 개인수준의 범죄예방활동은 범죄피해 예방에 상당히 기여하는 것으로 이해된다. 하지만 기존 연구에서 개인수준의 범죄예방활동의 영향요인을 파악하는 연구는 많지 않았다. 이에 이 연구에서는 기존 연구결과들에 기초하여 인구사회학적 특성, 범죄피해경험, 위험인지, 범죄두려움, 무질서, 비공식적 사회통제, 그리고 경찰신뢰의 영향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 통계적 검증을 위해 연구자는 대구시에서 667명의 시민들로부터 설문자료를 획득하여 분석에 이용하였다. 분석결과, 개인수준의 범죄예방활동에 영향을 미치는 요인은 개별 행위별로 상당한 차이가 존재하는 것으로 나타났다. 주요변인들 중 성별, 연령, 학력, 비공식적 통제, 그리고 범죄두려움이 보호·회피행동에 영향을 미친 반면 일상방범활동에서는 인구사회학적 변인의 영향이 없었고 비공식적 통제, 무질서, 경찰신뢰, 그리고 범죄두려움이 영향을 미쳤다. 한편으로 전자감시 장비의 설치 등 도구적 범죄예방활동은 주요 변인들의 설명력이 상당히 떨어지는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 전자감시장비를 통한 접근통제와 감시강화는 다른 범죄예방활동들과 달리 개인의 사회경제적 지위에 영향을 받는 것으로 나타난 반면 대상물 강화(자물쇠 설치 등)는 지역사회의 무질서 징후 인지에 유일하게 영향을 받는 것으로 나타났다. 종합할 때, 개인의 범죄예방활동은 도구를 활용한 범죄예방활동과 행동에 기초한 범죄예방활동으로 구분되는데 이들 활동들에 영향을 미치는 요인은 상당히 차이를 보인다. 이에 개인의 범죄예방활동을 활성화하기 위한 차별화된 정책적 접근이 요구된다.
