The purpose of this research is to find out what students want to do for invention educational activities in elementary education and to find out what the most effective invention education should be by implementing invention educational activities in schools. The participants of the research were 678 students of 4th, 5th and 6th graders in areas of Busan, Gyeongnam, and Jeonbuk. The research tool which had been developed by the researchers was a questionnaire about elementary inventional educational activities. Prior to being used, the questionnaire had been reviewed by four educational experts. The questionnaire contained 20 options about invention educational activities, from which the participants were asked 10. In addition, open-ended questions were presented for the participants to write what they want to do for the activities. The program used to analyze the result for descriptive statistics were SPSS 23K and EXCEL. KrKwic(Kwords, KrTitle) and UCINET 6.0 were used to analyze the result for semantic network. The semantic network image was developed through Netdraw. The results from the research are the following: First, high percentage of students in the elementary level were exposed to invention education through subject learning. Second, the highest ranked activities that the students wanted were ‘Making invented inventions’, ‘The Ideas of Nature in Nature’, and ‘Finding Your Life Inventions’. Third, the image from the semantic network shows ‘Making invented inventions’which is located in the center, with‘Evaluating the invention activity’,‘Finding Your Life Inventions’, and ‘Can I have a patent, too’. layering away from the center. These layers are strongly related to each other. Lastly, the students showed different interests in types of invention educational activities not based upon their gender, but based upon their grade levels and invention educational experiences. Thus, it is necessary to have invention educational activity class which is developed based on what students want in the elementary level.

이 연구의 목적은 초등학교 단계의 발명교육에서 학습자가 원하는 발명교육활동이 무엇인지를 파악하고 요구하는 발명교육 활동 간의 연결망을 통하여 효과적인 초등단계의 발명교육에 주는 시사점을 모색하는데 있었다. 이 연구의 대상은 부산․경남․전북 지역의 초등학교 4, 5, 6학년 678명이며, 조사도구는 초등 단계의 발명교육 활동에 관한 문항을 자체적으로 개발하여 전문가 4인으로부터 내용 검토를 받아 수정하여 사용하였다. 조사도구는 제시된 발명교육 활동내용 20개에 대하여 희망하는 교육활동 10개를 선택하도록 하였으며, 제시된 내용외의 희망하는 발명교육활동을 개방형으로 적도록 하였다. 조사도구의 분석은 기술적 통계처리를 위하여 SPSS 23K와 EXCEL을 활용하였으며, 선택한 발명교육 활동 간의 의미 연결망 작성을 위하여 KrKwic(Kwords, KrTitle)과 UCINET 6.0을 활용하여 분석하였으며 연결망의 이미지는 Netdraw를 활용하여 구현하였다. 이 연구를 통하여 도출된 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초등학생의 발명교육 경험은 교과목 수업 형태가 가장 높았다. 둘째, 초등학생이 원하는 발명교육 활동은 ‘발명품을 실제로 만들어 보기’와 ‘자연 속 발명 아이디어들’, ‘생활 속 발명품 찾기’ 등의 순으로 나타났다. 셋째, 초등학생이 원하는 발명교육 활동의 의미연결망 중심 요소는 ‘발명품 실제로 만들어 보기’가 가장 중심에 위치하였으며, ‘발명 활동 평가하기’, ‘생활 속 발명품 찾기’ 그리고 ‘나도 특허를 낼 수 있을까’ 등이 높은 빈도와 연결밀도를 나타내고 있었다. 넷째, 학년 및 발명경험 유무에 따라서는 희망하는 발명교육 활동의 유형의 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났으나 성별에 따른 차이는 크지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 이를 통하여 향후 초등학교 단계의 발명교육에서 교과목을 통한 발명교육 활동에서 학생들이 원하는 교육활동을 반영하는 수업이 이루어질 필요가 있다.
