The purpose of this study is to discuss the true nature of arts and role of education through the idea of emotional education in Confucius. From today 's point of view, it may seem that the art of autonomy and the normative education are in conflict. However, the meaning of instruction in Confucianism is the regulation of this path and the emotion is the states of equilibrium and harmony. Therefore, art and education are the same as the self-cultivation. Confucius is an educator, philosopher and artist. His core idea is humanity(仁) and emphasized poetry, propriety and music as a way to learn and practice humanity. Poetry, propriety and music are the natural manifestation of emotion and is the best place Confucius pursues. Through thoughts of humanity and aesthetic consciousness in Confucius, this researcher will examine his perception of the emotion and the view of art, and try to find out the method of emotional education in terms of creation, appreciation, and criticism. It will also highlight the significance that the idea of emotional education in Confucius means to us today.

본 연구는 孔子의 情感敎育을 통하여 藝術의 참모습과 敎育의 역할에 대하여 논한 것이다. 오늘날의 관점에서 보면 자율성이 중시되는 예술과 규범적인 교육이 상충되게 느껴질 수도 있다. 그러나 儒學에서 말하는 敎의 의미는 修道이며 情은 中和이다. 따라서 예술과 교육은 修身으로서 맥을 같이한다. 孔子는 교육자이자 철학가이며 예술가이다. 그의 핵심사상은 仁이다. 그는 제자들에게 仁을 가르치기 위한 특별한 교육을 행하였는데, 그것은 감정이 중심이 되는 교육이다. 감정이 중심이 되는 교육이란 詩‧禮‧樂을 통하여 진리를 터득하는 것이다. 孔子의 仁思想과 審美意識을 통해서 심미주체인 ‘나’를 확인하며, 孔子 情感敎育의 方法과 活用에 있어서 詩․禮․樂을 통한 예술의 참모습과 創作觀․鑑賞觀․批評觀을 통한 예술의 참작용에 대하여 알 수 있다. 또한 孔子 情感敎育의 現代적 意義를 學習의 인식전환과 修身의 생활화 그리고 仁에 근거한 예술 활동으로 살펴봄으로서 ‘나’의 예술 실천에 대하여 설명하였다.
