This study is for the purpose of understanding the good in SanSsiBan, a form of Keummoon, bronze character presented in the late Western Zhou dynasty as well as of studying the characters in terms of Taoist aesthetics. SanSsiBan is an inscription about a transaction of property between feudal lords returning a real estate to its original owner of San state, a feudal state land acquired from San by Cheuk state trough invasion. During the process of returning the land, Cheuk stated that it would do its best to prevent any variation or accident and to inform if anything happened with compensation for damages. So, we can find the ethical and altruistic ideas such as the good, no self-deceit, humanity and courtesy in SanSsiBan taking care of others. On the other hand, the character in SanSsiBan inscription as representative example of ChoJeon (草篆, a calligraphic type) and beloved by traditional calligraphers is so simple and unsophisticated. The naive sincerity without any secularity is the core of characters in SanSsiBan. In this sense, we can discover Taoist aesthetics in the SanSsiBan. As presented above, SanSsiBan can be understood that it provides today’s modern artists with a lot of ideas in various creative areas as well as has its artistic values in research of traditional calligraphy.

본고는 西周 말기 금문인 <散氏盤>에 담긴 善에 대한 내용을 이해하고, 아울러 명문의 書體를 도가 미학적 차원에서 고찰한 논문이다. <散氏盤>은 西周 말 지방제후간의 토지거래를 기록해 놓은 명문으로, 측나라가 산나라를 침략하여 빼앗은 토지를 산나라에게 돌려주는 내용이 담겨 있다. 토지를 돌려주는 과정에서 측나라는 어긋남과 변고가 있으면 벌금을 낼 것이며, 또 그러한 사실을 알려 더 이상 그러한 일이 없도록 할 것을 말하고 있다. 그러므로 <散氏盤> 명문 속에는 善, 毋自欺 仁, 禮의 윤리사상이 내재되어 타인을 배려하고 사랑하는 애타적 윤리사상을 볼 수 있다. 반면 草篆의 선구가 되고 서예가들에게 사랑을 많이 받고 있는 <散氏盤> 명문의 書體는 이지러지고 모자란 듯 하고 무뚝뚝하며 소탈하고 꾸밈이 없다. 속된 느낌이 전혀 없으며 천진난만한 소박함과 진실함이 <散氏盤> 서체의 생명력이다. 이런 점에서 <散氏盤>의 서체에는 道家미학이 지향하는 미의식이 담겨 있다. 이처럼 自然而然한 <散氏盤>은 현대의 작가들에게 창작영역의 많은 자료를 제공하며 오늘날 서예를 연구함에 있어서 많은 예술적 가치를 지니고 있다.
