Moral education aims to cultivate morality at elementary school. Elementary students should have motivation to grow in order to cultivate morality. However, it is said that the number of helpless students is increasing these days. Students who are helpless can not be interested in moral growth because they are indifferent to themselves and others. They are hopeless, and can not even help themselves. The helplessness of elementary students should be healed. Because helplessness is an unfortunate condition for elementary school students. We are considering ethical counseling as a way to heal the helplessness of elementary school students. This is because ethical counseling through moral education curriculum can be expected for educational effect. Therefore, we examined the characteristics and methods of ethical counseling for healing of helplessness, and examined the practice of moral education using ethical counseling.

초등학교 도덕과 교육은 학생들로 하여금 도덕성 즉 바람직한 인격을 함양하는 것을 목표로 한다. 초등학생들이 도덕성을 함양하려면 성장 동기·의지가 있어야 한다. 그런데 요즈음 무기력한 학생들이 증가하고 있다고 한다. 무기력한 학생들은 자신은 물론 타자에 대해 무관심하며, 더 이상 희망이 없으며, 더 나아가 자기 자신 스스로도 도와줄 수 없다고 하는 상태에 있기 때문에 도덕적 성장에 관심을 갖기 어렵다. 성장기에 있는 초등학생들의 무기력은 불행한 상태이기 때문에 치유되어야 한다. 우리는 초등학생들의 무기력을 치유하는 방법으로 윤리상담을 고찰하고자 한다. 그 이유는 도덕과 교육과정을 통한 윤리상담은 활용의 용이성, 교육 및 상담 시간의 배정과 활용의 적정성 등으로 인해 교육효과를 기대할 수 있기 때문이다. 이에 우리는 무기력의 치유를 위한 윤리상담의 특징과 방법을 고찰하고, 이를 근거로 하여 윤리상담을 활용한 도덕과 수업의 실제를 고찰하고자 한다.
