The purpose of this paper is to research the bright and dark side of big data and internet of things from the perspective of humanities. The plan of extracting useful data from big data, using it is transferred to reality, and gives effectiveness as expected. The rosy prospect of big data and internet of things is infinite, but its negative side is being poorly treated. As big data and internet of things are in close relation to human life, the bright side and dark side of big data should be importantly treated. This research, through a movie that draws future society, tried to tell the critical reason and needs of humanistic imagination in using big data and internet of things. This movie was significant in treating face to face the problem of public security and public order, privacy and surveillance and of data manipulation that have been the panhuman interested objects. Designing scientifically the future as prevention of crime looks strangely, but lays itself open to attack. The system design and operation depends on people, and causes a terrible result only with one person’s immoral judgement and act. Also, the problem is presented that it cannot avoid the problem of wrong analysis and interpretation of data. The human challenge is challengeable that tries anticipates and seizes the past, present and future, but it is needed to be delicately treated. It is the reason why critical interpretation and imagination and humanitarian reason are needed. The epochal flow as the introduction of big data and internet of things cannot be returned. The bright side and dark side of big data and internet of things is being clearly shown. Started from the tool for human being, human being in the epoch of big data and internet of things is likely to hand over its human life. Looking like indispensable result, what kind of attitude human being should take in this new epoch surged? If big data and internet of things becomes the eye of overmatching human life, human eye should become another eye to overwatch big data and internet of things.

이 글은 이 시대의 거를 수 없는 흐름인 빅데이터와 사물인터넷의 명암을 인문 학적 시선으로 바라보는 것에 목적이 있다. 많은 데이터를 통해 현실분석과 미래 예측에 유효한 데이터를 추출하고, 이를 활용한다는 계획은 현실로 옮겨지고, 기 대만큼의 효과를 거두고 있다. 빅데이터와 사물인터넷의 장밋빛 전망은 무성하 지만, 이에 대한 부정적인 측면은 소홀히 다루어지고 있다. 빅데이터와 사물인터 넷이 인간 삶과 밀접한 관계를 맺고 있는 만큼, 빅데이터의 명(明)과 암(暗)은 모 두 중요하게 다루어질 필요가 있다. 이 글에서는 미래사회를 그린 영화인〈마이너리티 리포트〉를 통해, 빅데이터와 사물인터넷의 사용에 있어 비판적 사유와 인문학적 상상력의 필요성을 말하고자 하였다. 이 영화는 전인류적 관심대상이 된 공공의 안전과 치안, 프라이버시와 감 시, 데이터 조작의 문제를 정면으로 다루고 있다는 점에서 유의미하다. 범죄 예방 이라는 미래를 과학적으로 설계하는 것은 이상적으로 보이지만, 허점도 안고 있 다. 시스템의 설계와 운용이 사람에게 달려있고, 단 한 사람만의 비윤리적 판단과 행위만으로도 끔찍한 결과를 초래할 수 있기 때문이다. 또한 데이터의 오분석, 오 독의 문제를 피할 수 없다는 것도 문제로 제기된다. 과거와 현재, 더 나아가 미래 를 예측하고 장악하려는 인간의 시도는 도전적이지만, 그만큼의 섬세하게 다루어 질 필요가 있다. 비판적 해석과 상상력, 인문학적 사유가 필요한 이유이다. 빅데이터와 사물인터넷 시대의 도래라는 시대적 흐름은 되돌릴 수 없다. 빅데 이터와 사물인터넷의 명암은 더욱 선명하게 드러나고 있다. 인간을 위한 도구에 서 출발했지만, 빅데이터와 사물인터넷 시대에 인간은 인간다운 삶의 자리를 내 주고 있는 듯이 보인다. 필연적인 결과처럼 보이지만, 이렇게 밀려드는 새로운 시대에 인간은 어떠한 태도를 취해야 할 것인가? 빅데이터와 사물인터넷이 인간 의 삶을 감시하는 눈이 되고 있다면, 인간의 눈은 빅데이터와 사물인터넷을 감시 하는 또 다른 눈이 되어야 한다.
