The western philosophies or thoughts are based on the different languages and concepts to the korean ones, though the quest is very analogous each others, which is given by the Bergson’s philosophy as good example. He is underestimated though his philosophy gives to the enormous consequence to the contemporary thought, but not in Korea. The reason for this is due to several clues how we understand his philosophy in our spiritual traditions. In this case, the clues come from Donghak. The first clue is related to the experience of the thought’s reversion by the ‘mythical experience’ not by the text or concepts. The second one is that, as Bergson’s intuition is discussed through the epistemological and ontological investigation on the ‘distance’, also Choi Cheu’s Si(侍) at the ‘sicheonju’(侍天主) could be discussed by the ‘translation’(移). After we experience our born nature through the experienced immediacy, then we do the meaning itself toward the sympathy between you and I, when we feel strongly the similarity between these two spiritualities, the third one comes out. The aim of this discussion, as demonstrating the meaning of immediacy for both the ‘distance’ and the ‘translation’ respectively, is to show that both the Si(侍) and the intuition sympathize and are the experienced immediacy which is immediate and absolute.

서양의 철학이나 사상이 우리와는 다른 언어와 개념에 근거하지만 그 지향점이 매우 유사하다는 견해들이 있는데, 베르그송 철학이 좋은 예가 된다. 베르그송은 그의 철학적 영향에 비해 제대로 평가받지 못한 철학자이기도 하지만, 한국에서만은 그렇지 않다. 논자는 한국에서 베르그송이 널리 읽히고 또 사유되는 이유가 우리의 전통 속에 그의 철학을 이해할 수 있는 실마리가 있기 때문이라고 보았고, 그 실마리를 동학에서 찾았다. 첫 번째 실마리는 최제우와 베르그송이 언어나 문자가 아닌 ‘신비체험’을 통해서 사유의 전회(轉回)를 체험하는 것과 관련이 있다. 두 번째 실마리는 베르그송의 ‘직관(直觀)’이 ‘거리’에 대한 인식론적이고 존재론적인 고찰을 통해 논의되는 것처럼, 최제우의 ‘시(侍)’도 ‘옮김’에 대한 인식론적이고 존재론적인 고찰을 통해 논의할 수 있다는 것이다. ‘체험된 직접성’을 통해서 이 두 거인들의 사상의 친연성(親緣性)을 강하게 느낄 때, 우리는 세 번째 실마리를 발견하게 될 것이다. 본 논의의 목적은 ‘거리’와 ‘옮김’에 대한 직접성의 의미를 논증함으로써, 베르그송의 直觀과 동학의 侍가 공감하는 것이며 무매개적이고 절대적인 ‘체험된 직접성’임을 보이는데 있다.
