Through this research, I introduce the magazine 『Goi-gi(Mystery)』 second issue, published by Choi Nam-sun. Until now, magazine 『Goi-gi(Mystery)』 never introduce to the researchers. There are so many reason, but the most important reason is we could not find and read this magazine. I found this magazine in the public library(INDEPENDENCE HALL OF KOREA), and even we can watch and read online(http://www.koreanhistory.or.kr). This magazine purposed people to upgrade Humanities and Cultures. Choi Nam-sun didn't want to make this magazine with easy and accessible contents. There are sophisticated and high-quality article in the magazine, and he showed a great wealth of knowledge across the all times and places. But after second issue, he couldn't publish this magazine any more. From now on, it is necessary that we find some unknown reason.

이 글에서는 그간 실물이 제대로 공개되지 않았으며, 연구자들에 의해 고찰의 대상이 되지 않았던 일제강점기 최남선 간행 잡지 『괴기』제2호의 소재를 알리고 잡지의 특징을 소개하였다. 이 잡지는 지금까지 두 차례 간행된 최남선 전집을 통해서는 그 실체를 제대로 파악하기 어렵다. 그런데 확인 결과 이 잡지는 독립기념관에 소장되어 있고, 한국역사정보통합시스템을 통해 간편하게 열람이 가능했다. 이 잡지는 최남선이 대중들에게 인문과학의 진면목을 전파하기 위해 기획된 것으로 보인다. 대중적 차원의 수준 낮은 교양에 附會하려던 것은 아니었다. 그야말로 동서고금을 막론한 수준 높은 인문과학적 지식을 수록하려 한 것이다. 제2호에 실린 기사는 크게 ‘性的 화제를 다루고 있는 경우’, ‘역사적인 문제를 다루고 있는 경우’, ‘서사 장르의 작품을 다루고 있는 경우’, ‘기타’로 나눌 수 있다. 이 기사들은 대체로 우리 민족의 주체적 면모를 강조하려는 의지와 관련이 깊다. 아울러 인류 보편의 차원에서 조선과 여타 세계와의 同異에 대해 고찰하려는 경향이 보인다. 그런데 이 잡지는 제2호를 끝으로 더 이상 발간되지 못하였다. 이 잡지가 왜 더 이상 발간되기 어려웠으며, 최남선이 생각한 괴기의 정체는 무엇인지 등에 대해서는 표면적인 의미 외에 앞으로 더 많은 고찰이 필요할 것으로 보인다.
