This study is composed of four notes associated with using the Compatibility index of the AHP. Compatibility concerns how much two sets of priorities of an order are mutually close. (a) A case is introduced to show that inconsistency in pairwise comparisons can detrimentally effect on measuring the compatibility between the two matrices. In order to avoid such errancy, we remind readers of the meaning of Saaty’s compatibility metric and of correct usage. (b) Originating from Saaty’s consistency index for an entire hierarchy, compatibility for an entire hierarchy is derived to generalize the measurement of compatibility and its application is described. (c) The sensitivity of the Compatibility index is analyzed to figure out stable and unstable bases. A pitfall misleading to a wrong decision and its preventive action are discussed in measuring the compatibility. (d) The way of finding element to revise compatibility is suggested when consolidation is necessary after assuring inter-rater disagreement among assessors.

지금까지 Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)가 개발된 이후 여러 분야의 의사결정에 사용성이 입증되어 왔다. 본 연구는 AHP의 일치성(compatibility)(또는 유사성(similarity)) 지수(S.I.)의 실제 사용과 확장성을 다루었다. 첫째, 일치성의 근본은 AHP의 최종 결과인 중요도 벡터들간에 유의한 차이에 대한 검증을 목적으로 하고 있으나 일치성 지수 산출식은 쌍대비교 행렬에 근거를 두고 있다. 따라서 쌍대비교의 일관성(consistency)이 결여된 행렬을 사용하여 일치성을 평가하면 벡터를 사용한 경우와 다른 결론에 도달할 수 있다. 본 연구는 이에 관련된 예를 보여주고 벡터를 이용한 보다 간편한 식을 도출하였다. 둘째, 계층전체의 판단에 적용할 수 있는 계층일치성(SIH)을 개발하여 제시하였는데 이는 계층일관성의 원칙에 근거하였다. 계층일치성과 이의 판단 여부의 근거가 되는 값을 제시하고 이들을 비교하여 계층전체에 대한 일치성 여부를 판단하도록 하였다. 이에 대한 예를 소프트웨어 품질을 대상으로 제시하였다. 셋째, 일치성 지수의 민감도와 관련된 부분이다. 일치성 지수는 비율에 근거하므로 비율이 상대적으로 적은 경우 작은 편차에도 결론에 영향을 미치는 경우가 크다. 이에 대하여 본 연구는 다양한 방법에 의한 예와 함께 대안 방법을 제시하였다. 마지막으로 일치성 지수의 개선에 관한 연구 성과를 제시하였다. 일치성 지수의 개선에 영향을 빨리 미치는 요소의 발견을 위한 방법을 제시하고 변화의 정도를 비교하였다. 지금까지 제시된 지수는 평가의 개수가 정해져 있으며 평가의 개수가 늘어나더라도 이에 대한 연구가 필요하나 지수의 값은 일정한 한계 이내임을 알 수 있다. 계층일관성과 관련하여 본 연구에서는 완전한 계층만을 대상으로 하였으며 불완전한 계층에 대한 부분은 향후 과제로 남긴다
