This purpose of this study is a program for improving the interpersonal relations of schizophrenia patients hospitalized in psychiatric wards and verify the intervention effects through the changes of personal relations and communication ability, self-expression ability and interpersonal relation-based leisure activity ability of the social interaction ability. The subjects of this study are the schizophrenia patients in the closed wards of psychiatric clinics. The groups were composed of an experimental group and a control group of each 10 patients, and a pre-to-post test design that is to compare the results after the therapeutic recreation program is intervened in the experimental group was established. An observation report for interpersonal relation change sale and social interaction was used for the effect verification. Homogeneity, effectiveness by were used for data analysis and all statistical analysis was progressed by SPSS 18.0. The significance of this research results is as follows. First, the developed therapeutic recreation program was proved to be effective to the interpersonal relation improvement of the schizophrenia patients. Second, the experimental group improved the communication ability compared and self-expression ability compared and leisure activity ability based on interpersonal relations compared to the control group. This study is significantly important in that it systematically provided the theoretical foundations and program development process of therapeutic recreation as a research to satisfy the desire for the program development in diverse social welfare areas.

본 연구는 정신병동에 입원 중인 조현병 환자의 대인관계 증진을 위한 치료레크리에이션 프로그램 개입의 효과성을 대인관계변화와 의사소통능력, 자기표현능력, 대인중심의 여가활동능력 측면에서 검증하였다. 본 연구의 대상은 정신과 폐쇄병동에 입원중인 조현병환자이다. 집단은 실험집단, 통제집단 각각 10명으로구성하였으며 치료레크리에이션 프로그램을 실험집단에게만 개입 한 후 프로그램 개입 전과 개입 후의 결과를 비교하는 사전․사후검사설계를 설정하였다. 본 연구의 효과 검증은 대인관계변화척도와 사회적 상호작용을 위한 관찰지를 사용하였다. 자료 분석은 동질성과 효과성을 분석 하였으며 모든 통계분석은 SPSS 18.0 을 이용하여 분석하였다. 본 연구의 결과 실험집단은 통제집단에 비해 대인관계변화에 긍정적인 효과가 있었다. 또한 실험집단은통제집단에 비해 의사소통 능력과 자기표현 능력이 증진된 것으로 나타났으며, 대인중심의 여가활동능력증진에도 효과성 있음이 검증되었다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 조현병 환자를 비롯한 다양한 사회복지현장에 적용 가능한 치료레크리에이션 프로그램의 개발과 보급의 필요성을 제시하였다.
