- “Baek-hwa” (Dongah Daily, 1932. 6-11), a full-length novel having been published by Park, Hwa-Seong as a female writer in Korean literature for the first time and her second full-length novel, “Dawn of Northern Country” (Chosun Joongang Daily, 1935. 4-12) depicted a process of promoting revolution of autonomous female character. This study intended to clarify a relationship among social, female consciousness and ethnic consciousness of the writer through female characters of those two works. Social consciousness of writer Park, Hwa-Seong was disclosed by advocating interest of persecuted class after presenting their problem in the works. The writer dreamed of a revolution by having advanced character who enlightened unconscious surrounding people and led struggle to victory appear in the works. Bakhwa of “Baek-Hwa” and Hyo-Soon of “Dawn of Northern Country” are typical characters. Those characters revealed critical viewpoint by recognizing reality. Both were furnished with intellectual ability and independent economically and they behaved initiatively in order to overcome limitation based on a critical mind against irrational class confrontation. What they pursued was an equal and free world for all. In the works, female sex was suppressed by outside male of family due to distorted class hierarchy. At this time, impotent male in family inside failed to help its own family. What liberated those in troubled situation was socialist ideology and positive practice of Baekhwa and Hyo-Soon. Conclusion of these two works is opposite. However, these two works reveal identical subject consciousness in terms of the fact that two female characters bravely practiced reform in common. The writer disclosed a dire desire for recovering sovereignty of our persecuted people during Japanese colonial rule by linking critical reality consciousness and leading female consciousness of those two female characters with ethnical consciousness.

- 박화성이 한국 문학에서 여성작가로는 최초로 발표한 장편소설 『백화』 (동아일보, 1932.6~11)와 그의 두 번째 장편소설 『북국의 여명』(조선중앙일보, 1935.4~12)은 주체적인 여성 인물이 변혁을 추진해 나가는 과정을 그렸다. 이 연구는 두 작품에서 여성 인물들을 통해 작가의 사회의식과 여성 의식, 그리고 민족의식의 관계를 밝히고자 했다. 소설가 박화성의 사회의식은 핍박받는 계층의 문제를 작품 속에 제시하고 그들의 이익을 옹호하는 것으로 표출된다. 작가는 무자각의 주변 인물들 을 계몽하고 투쟁을 승리로 이끄는 선진적 인물을 작품에 등장시켜 변혁을 꿈꾸었다. 『백화』의 백화와 『북국의 여명』의 효순은 둘 다 지적 능력을 갖추었고 경제적으로 독립된 인물로, 부조리한 계급적 대립에 대해 문제의식을 갖고 비판적 관점을 드러냈다. 이들이 지향한 것은 모든 사람이 평등하고 자유로운 세상이었다. 작품에서 여성의 성은 왜곡된 계급 서열에 의해 가족 외부의 남성으로부터 억압받았다. 이때 가족 내부의 남성은 무력해서 자신의 가족을 돕지 못 했다. 곤경에 빠진 이들을 해방시킨 것은 백화와 효순의 사회주의 사상과 주도적인 행동이었다. 두 작품의 결말은 상이하다. 하지만 두 여성 인물이 공통적으로 용감하게 개혁을 시도한다는 점에서 두 작품은 동일한 주제의 식을 드러내고 있다. 작가는 두 여성 인물의 비판적 현실 인식과 주도적인 여성 의식을 민족의식과 연계하여, 일제 강점기에 핍박받던 우리 민족이 주권을 회복하는 것에 대한 염원을 드러내고 있다.

- 한국문예창작학회(The Society of Korean Literary Creative Writing)는 한국 문학의 새 지평을 열기 위해 문예창작 이론과 문예교육 이론을 연구 계발하여 문 예창작의 새로운 방향을 제시하고자 조직한 학술단체입니다. 전국 대학과 대학원 문예창작 관련학과의 전·현직 전임교수·겸임(초빙)교수· 강 사·대학원 재학 이상자 및 문예창작인들이 회원으로 활동하고 있습니다. 학회의 목적에 적극적으로 동의하는 문학 관련 단체나 문학창작 동호인도 준회원으로 참 여하고 있습니다. 연 2회 학회지를 발간해 학문적 기반을 닦고 있으며, 정기적으로 학술 세미나 와 해외 문학 심포지엄 등 학술 발표회를 개최하여 학문적 교류와 토론의 장을 넓히고 있습니다. 한편으로, 문예창작 캠프·문학기행 등의 창작교육 활동과 창작 학습 행사를 수 시로 진행하면서, 창작·창작이론·창작교육에 관한 활동의 범위를 넓히고 있습니다. 별도로, 문예창작 교육을 받은 문예창작학도들의 진로 개발을 위해 '문예교육지도 교사 자격 시험'도 운영하고 있습니다. The Society of Korean Literary Creative Writing is a pure academic association for the literary cretive writing, and was organized on November 11, 2001 for the purpose of presenting the new direction of literary creative writing by studying all the methods to activate and develop the theories of literary creative writing and its education. Our society is composed of professors or ex-professors, some invited professor, lecturers, graduate students of the dept. of literary creative writing as regular members, and the persons interested in our program as associative members. Our society holds an annual academic meeting-- literary symposium, literary creative writing seminar-- and publishes the journal of our society and our members' anthology of literary works. Added to these, our society has already started a new project to open the way for our literary juniors by providing them with a certificate as a leader and holding a forum for literary creative writing.
