This article is intended to propose how to understand characteristics of the persons that appears in Chinese mythology through analysis of the Chinese etymological origins in regard to the names of such persons. In the main subject, the original meaning of the names of the Chinese mythological persons was grasped through consideration based on Chinese character study, that is, analysis of the Chinese etymological origins, and, through that, concrete methods and cases of understanding relevant persons and contents of the text of such mythology were proposed. Also, the cases were examined where only understanding of present meanings of relevant Chinese characters enables knowing characteristics of the persons without any analysis of the Chinese etymological origins used in the names of the persons. As instances of that, concrete contents of Yan Emperor(炎帝), Zhu-rong(祝融), Xing-tian(刑天), Yi(羿), Hao-zhi(豪彘), Chi-ru(赤鱬), etc. were looked into. It will be helpful to understand characteristics of mythological persons and to exactly read mythological text to utilize such methodology in Chinese character study as analysis of the Chinese etymological origins in studying Chinese mythology.

본 논문의 목적은 中國神話에 등장하는 人物名의 漢字 字源 분석을 통해 그 인물의 특징을 이해하는 방법을 제시하는 것이다. 본론에서는 중국신화 人物名에 대한 漢字學的 고찰을 진행하였다. 즉 신화 인물의 이름에 쓰인 한자의 자원 분석을 통해 그 本義를 파악하고, 이를 통해 해당 인물과 그 신화 텍스트의 내용을 이해하는 구체적인 방법과 사례를 제시하였다. 또한 人物名에 쓰인 한자의 字源에 대한 분석을 진행하지 않더라도 해당 한자의 현재 뜻에 대한 이해만으로도 그 인물의 특징을 파악할 수 있는 경우에 대해서도 아울러 살펴보았다. 그 사례로 炎帝, 祝融, 刑天, 羿, 豪彘, 赤鱬 등에 대해 그 구체적인 내용에 대해 검토하였다. 중국신화 연구에 있어서 이러한 한자 자원 분석이라는 한자학의 방법론을 활용하는 것은 신화 텍스트를 정확하게 독해하고 또 이를 통해 신화 인물의 특징을 이해하는 데에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다.

本論文は中國の神話に登場する人物名に使われた漢字の字源を分析し、その人物の特徴を理解する方法を提示することを目的とする。 本論においては中國神話の人物名に関する漢字學的な考察、つまり神話の人物名に当てられた漢字の字源を分析することによって、その本義を捉え、該当人物や神話テキストの内容を理解できる具体的な方法と事例を提示した。さらに人物名に使われた漢字の字源を分析せず、その漢字の持っている現在の意味を理解するだけでも、その人物の特徴が把握できる場合についても考察してみた。具合的には炎帝、祝融、刑天、羿、豪彘、赤鱬などについてその内容を検討した。 中国神話の研究に際して、このように漢字の字源の分析という漢字学の方法論を活用するのは、神話の人物の特徴を理解し、神話テキストの正確な読解に役立つことができると言えよう。
