Buncheong celadon, made from an inlaid celadon of Goryeo dynasty, was developed by the inflow of white celadon, which created various drawings of extraordinary shape and pattern that focused on ordinary people instead of the government. Iron-Painted Buncheong celadon differed from Stemped Buncheong or Incising Buncheong in a way that it was drawn with a painterly brush using an iron oxide pigment. Iron-Painted Buncheong celadon was produced only for a short period of time of 30 years, but its humorous and freely expressed patterns distinguished itself from other potteries around the world, containing its own cultural value and the sentiments of Koreans. However, despite its throughout research of Iron-Painted Buncheong celadon, studies have been restricted to educational and historical researches such as Research Report of Cultural Treasure; Researches in ceramic culture and ceramic industry of Iron-Painted Buncheong celadon have not been studied in depth. The objective of this study was to establish an identity of the traditional culture through organizing, researching, and analyzing the relics of industrialized Iron-Painted Buncheong celadon. Also, through the use of Adobe Illustrator, modernized Iron-Painted Buncheong celadon was developed by creating a database through schematization of the relics of Iron-Painted Buncheong celadon.

고려의 상감청자를 근원으로 제작되어진 분청사기는 백자의 유입으로 국가의 통치에서 벗어나 서민을 중심으로 한 독특한 기형과 문양으로 시문되어 제작 되었다. 철화분청사기는 인화분청, 조화분청과는 다른 철채를 이용하여 회화적 필치의 붓으로 시문되었으며 30여년의 짧은 기간 동안 제작되었으나 자유롭고 해학적인 특징을 가진 문양으로 세계 어느 나라에서도 찾아볼 수 없는 문화적 가치이자 가장 한국적 정서가 잘 드러나 있는 도자기이다. 그러나 철화분청사기에 대한 연구는 다양한 학술적 연구와 자료에도 불구하고 대체로 발굴보고서 등의 학술적, 고증적 차원에서의 연구로 한정되어 있어 전문인들을 위한 기초자료로만 활용되고 있고 도자문화, 도자 산업분야의 연구는 미비한 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 산재 되어져 있는 철화분청 유물들을 정리하고 연구 및 분석을 통해 고유 전통문화의 정체성 확립하고자 하였으며 또한 illustrator 프로그램을 통해 철화분청 유물들을 도식화하여 데이터 베이스화 함으로서 철화분청의 현대화에 활용 할 수 있도록 하였다.
