Recently, Mega FTAs (Free Trade Agreements) - TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership), RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership), TTIP (Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership), etc. - have rapidly processed by most countries. Mega FTAs will replace the role of bilateral FTAs. However, Korea didn't have clear strategic direction about TPP, which made a contract by 12 countries with multilateral negotiation. Most Korean government officers, professors and experts has many questions about the effectiveness of TPP. Eventually, South Korea government did not make a decision whether Korea should become a member of TPP or not. TPP will become an important issue to most of economic and political environment of Korea. If Korea won't become a TPP member, she should prepare alternatives. The join of TPP is closely sociologically and economically related with USA, China, Japan and other countries. This paper is focus on three regions (or perspectives) - (ⅰ) Korean firms in Korea, (ⅱ) Korean firms in developed countries such as USA, Japan, which are members of TPP, and (ⅲ) Korean firms in non-member countries of TPP such as China, - in export, import, investment, country of origin, and intermediary goods, etc. Some papers already try to measure effects of TPP in Korea. However, it is an difficult issue. Also, many discussions about advantages and weaknesses of joining TPP to Korea have progressed. However, there are no clear and strategic direction until now because of complicated relationships between Korea and USA, Japan, China, etc. This paper also tries to predict the effect of TPP on three perspectives in export and import of products and intermediate goods, investment, country of origin, etc. Besides, we try to predict synthetical economic results of the join of Korea in TPP. Empirical tests were carried using data from KOTRA (Korean Trade-Investment Promotion Agency). Most of Data were acquired from questionnaires by CEOs in foreign branches of Korean firms. Results show that positive effects are more large than negative effects in various economical points of view. This paper also suggests more detailed strategic implications for the join of TPP.

최근 TPP·RCEP·TTIP 등 메가 FTA 논의가 급격하게 진행되어, 기존 양자간 협상에서 다자간 협상으로 진행되고 있는 추세이다. 기존 양자간 FTA가 국가 대 국가 간의 양자간 무역장벽을 없애는 것이라면 TPP는 미국이 주도하는 아시아·태평양 지역의 12개 국가가 참여하는 다자간 FTA이다. 이와 같이 메가 FTA인 TPP에 대하여, 한국 정부 특히 통상 정책가들은 한국이 TPP에 가입한다면 그 효과에 대해 많은 의문과 고민이 있었고, 학자들 간에도 다소 이견이 있다. 결국, 가입 시기, 가입 방법, 가입의 여부 등도 이러한 효과에 대한 이슈가 선행되어야 하며, 전 세계 지역을 중심으로 이러한 종합적 효과에 대한 고찰이 필요하다. 즉, 글로벌 세 관점에서 - (1) 한국내 (모)기업, (2) 미국, 일본 등 TPP 역내 선진국, (3) 중국을 중심으로 하는 TPP 미가입 국가를 중심으로 - 수출, 투자, 중간재 교역 등에 대한 효과를 총체적으로 고찰할 필요가 있다. 현재 TPP의 전반적 효과에 대해서 일부 예측한 논문이 있으나 확신할 수 있는 상황은 아니며, 한국의 TPP 가입의 장점과 단점에 대해 많은 논의는 있으나, 지역별로 그 효과를 고찰한 연구는 미약한 상황이다. 이에 따라 본 연구에서는 한국의 무역, 투자, 중간재 교역 등과 밀접한 관계가 있는 국가들 중에서 특히 (1) 한국기업 또는 한국모기업의 입장에서 중간재 수입의 증가여부, 부품소재 수입의 증가여부, 투자 또는 수출의 증가여부, (2) 미국, 일본 등 TPP의 주요 선진국으로의 완제품 및 중간재·부품소재 수출, (3) 중국을 중심으로 하는 미가입 국가에서 한국으로의 공장이전, 투자 또는 수출증가 여부, 그리고 (4) 종합적 한국의 경제적 성과에 대해 고찰하고자 하였다. KOTRA 해외지사에서 조사한 설문을 기반으로 실증분석을 수행한 결과, 한국의 TPP 가입이 거의 모든 관점에서 긍정적 경제적 성과가 나타날 것으로 예측되었다. 끝으로, 결론 부문에서는 실증분석 결과를 바탕으로, 보다 구체적인 전략적 시사점도 제시하였다.
