This purpose of this research is to analyze through the actual proof of materials even whether the social capital affected any influence to the sense of community of the mega event holding area or not. Especially it focused on the necessity of the social capital of the holding area for the sustainable mega event implementation and local resident sense of community Hamyang. The factor needed for the successful operation of the mega event for the sense of community Hamyang of the local residentses was prescribed as the antecedent factor of the sense of community as the close network with the trust about the community and community inside different members, norm, and participation that is the social capital. Moreover, when the social capital was accumulated in four components of the social capital of the pursuing mega event site members and society based on the sense of community relationship and the sense of community was formed as a result, it shows to be concentrated in the sense of community Hamyang by verifying the mechanism in the community construction promoting the cooperation of the local resident with the positive research. This result can say that be actually of service to the development of organization of the mega event holding area.

본 연구는 사회자본이 메가이벤트 개최지역의 공동체의식에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지에 대해 실증자료를 통해 분석하고자 하였다. 특히 지속가능한 메가이벤트 구현을 위한 개최지역의 사회자본과 지역주민 공동체의식 함양의 필요성에 초점을 두고, 메가이벤트의 성공적인 운영을 위하여 현지 주민들의 공동체 의식 함양에 필요한 요소를 공동체에 대한 신뢰와 공동체 내 다른 구성원들과의 밀접한 네트워크, 규범, 참여 즉 사회자본으로 공동체의식의 선행요인으로 규정하였다. 자발적인 참여와 협력을 유도할 수 있는 개최지의 사회자본이 공동체의식에 미치는 영향관계를 규명하고자 하였으며, 무형적 자본인 사회자본의 중요성을 제시하고자 하였다. 연구결과는 최근 여러 학문분야에서 부각되고 있는 사회자본이라는 개념을 조직 연구에 적용하여 사회자본이 메가이벤트 개최지역의 공동체의식에 미치는 영향을 규명하였다는 것에 의의가 있다. 또한 공익을 추구하는 메가이벤트 개최지 구성원들의 사회자본의 4개의 구성요소와 공동체의식 관계를 바탕으로 한 사회 안에 사회자본이 축적되고 이로 인해 공동체 의식이 형성되었을 때 지역주민의 협력을 증진시키는 공동체 건설의 메커니즘을 실증 연구로 검증함으로써 공동체 의식 함양에 집중되어야 함을 보여준다. 이러한 결과는 실제 메가이벤트 개최지역의 조직 발전에도 도움이 되었다고 할 수 있다.
