The paper tries to explain the concept of Common root of three religions, namely Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism, using the definition of ancient Vietnam society with its five characteristics by O'Harrow to determine the scope and the expression of the common root of three religions in Vietnamese people's spiritual life. It then analyses the structure of the common root of three religions in three different periods of Vietnamese history: before the 10th century, from the 11th to the 14th century and from 15th to 19th century. The effects of the thought on the common root of three religions on other thoughts are discussed. It recommends that those who want to study, analyze and explain phenomena of Vietnamese ideology, culture, religions and history in the past and present should study the common root of three religions.

이 논문에서 필자는 유교-불교-도교 삼교공통의 근원(삼교동윈)이라는 개념을 해석해 나아가는 동시에 고전적인 베트남사회와 그 사회가 가진 5가지 특정에 대해 O’Harrow의 정의를 이용하여 베트남 사람의 정신생활에 있어서 삼교동원의 범위와 양상을 살펴보고자 한다. 필자는 베트남 역사 속의 3 시기를 기준으로 삼교동원의 구조를 분석하는데 그 시기들은 (1) 10세기 이전의 시기, (2) 11세기부터 14세기까지의 시기, (3) 15세기부터 19세기까지의 시기이다. 이와 더불어 필자는 다른 사상에 영향을 끼친 삼교동원의 영향을 논의하고자 한다. 마지막으로 필자는 과거나 현대의 베트남사상-문화-종교-역사의 현상, 모습, 사건들을 연구하고 해석할 때 삼교동원의 연구가 반드시 필요하다고 본다.
