The purpose of this study is to investigate the mediation effect of retirement preparation between family relationship and retirement anxiety. The study were conducted via survey of 233 police officers aging from 40 to 59 years old. The major findings were as follows. Firstly, physically healthy and married person who has dual income households and has high salary and work at the police station showed low retirement anxiety. Secondly, the better family relationship, the lower retirement anxiety. Thirdly, family relationship was positively related to retirement preparation. Fourthly, retirement preparation had an positive effect on reducing retirement anxiety. Finally, retirement preparation had a partial mediation effect between family relationship and retirement anxiety. This study suggested, on the basis of the results, that there should be sound family relationship and systemic preparation for retirement such as police organizational support in order to reduce policemen’s retirement anxiety.

이 연구는 경찰관의 가족관계가 은퇴불안에 어떠한 영향을 미치며, 은퇴준비가 이들 변수들 사 이에 매개하는 효과가 있는 지를 고찰하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 조사의 대상은 40～50대 경찰관 233명을 대상으로 설문조사하였다. 연구의 주요결과로는 첫째, 결혼상태를 잘 유지하고 있고 맞벌 이를 하며, 주관적 건강상태가 양호하고 연봉이 높으며 경찰서에서 근무하는 경찰관들의 은퇴불 안이 상대적으로 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 경찰관의 가족관계가 좋을수록 은퇴불안이 유의미 하게 감소하였다. 셋째, 경찰관의 가족관계가 좋을수록 은퇴준비도 양호한 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 은퇴준비는 경찰관의 은퇴불안을 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 가족관계가 경찰관의 은퇴 불안에 영향을 미치는데 있어서 은퇴준비가 부분매개 하는 효과가 있다고 나타났다. 이를 토대로 본 연구에서는 경찰관의 은퇴불안을 감소시키기 위해서는 일차적으로 건강한 가족관계를 유지함 과 동시에, 체계적인 은퇴준비를 할 수 있도록 지원하는 등 경찰관의 은퇴관리 방안을 제시했다.
