This study is to have a new understanding of ‘West Japan’ Region during Japanese colonial era as space and place with the diversity that can not be captured in the simiple dichotomous structure of colony Joseon and Imperial Japan and reconstruct it as a hybrid space where Japan and colony Joseon are mutually crossed that cannot be explained in the structure of the center and province narrated inside Japan. Through this, the purpose of this study is to analyze the mutual negotiating aspect between Busan and everyday life that has been omitted in the existing criticism on imperialism at multi-levels from the de-regional respective by having a new understanding of the region called ‘West Japan’ as space where social and economic relations of colony Joseon and imperial Japan with contradictions and conflicts inside. In particular, we also reviewed the process of the new foundation of Joseon local edition ‘In Namseon’ as well as bibliographical information and how Joseon and Joseon people are expressed in the newspaper with a focus on 『Gwanmun Maeseok Newspaper』 of Shimonoseki published by assuming the readers of Kitakyushu, Yamaguchi and Joseon. Through this, we attempted multilateral approach to the fact that it functioned as de-regional and mutual negotiable media for Japanese Residents in Joseon in Busan and Gyeongnam, Japanese in West Japan thinking of expanding their business and migrating to Joseon and Joseon people living in Japan.

본 연구에서는 일제강점기의 ‘서일본(西日本)’ 지역을 단순히 식민지 조선과 제국 일본이라는 이분법적인 구조에서 포착할 수 없는 다양성을 가진 공간･장소로 재인식하고, 또한 일본의 내부에서 서사되는 중심과 지방이라는 구조에서 설명할 수 없는 일본과 식민지 조선이 상호 교차하는 공간으로 재구성하고자 한다. 이를 통해, ‘서일본’이라고 하는 지역을 그 내부에 모순과 갈등이 상존하는 제국 일본과 식민지 조선의 사회적･경제적 관계들이 유동적으로 상호 교섭하는 공간으로 재인식함으로써, 기존의 제국주의 비판에서는 누락되어 온 일상 생활사와 부산과의 상호교섭적인 양상을 탈지역적인 측면에서 중층적으로 분석하는 것을 목적으로 했다.　 특히, 야마구치와 기타큐슈, 그리고 조선의 독자를 상정해서 간행된 시모노세키의 󰡔관문매석신문󰡕을 중심으로 서지적 정보는 물론, 부산 경남 지역판 ‘남선에서’가 신설되는 프로세스와 동 신문에서 조선 및 조선인은 어떻게 표상되고 있는지에 대해서도 함께 고찰했다. 이를 통해, 본고에서는 부산 경남 지역의 재조일본인 및 조선으로의 사업 확장과 이주를 생각하는 서일본 지역의 일본인, 그리고 서일본 거주의 재일조선인들에게 탈지역적이며 상호교섭적인 ‘문화접촉지대’로서의 미디어 역할을 했다는 사실에 대해서 다각적으로 분석을 시도했다.
