This paper analyzes limited by the small number of applications in the research literature as a diachronic perspective on ｢しだいに｣ but had to get the following conclusions. The ｢しだいに｣is the 12th century, “a step-by-step, in order” in the sense of like, was also used in the usage representing the sequentially carried out action in concert with the back of the predicate. It is, in the mid-13th century, which was written with 『平家物語』 is mixed with the meaning of “gradually”. When it comes to the 16th century towards the “progressively” has come to occupy a large part.　The primary meaning in the 17th century [sequentially] have. ｢改修本｣ is written there is true but its role is not used in the sense of [sequentially] ｢順次に｣ 18 century will be judged instead. In the modern languages are used in the meaning of [progress goes slowly expand with time - with octopus characteristics.

일본어

本稿は副詞｢しだいに｣に関する通時的観点での調査で、限られた文献の数少ない用例による分析ではあるが、以下のような結論を得ることができた。 ｢しだいに｣は12世紀には、｢順を追って、順番に｣などの意味で、後ろの述語と呼応して順次に行う行動を表す用法でも用いられていた。それが、󰡔平家物語󰡕の書かれた13世紀中頃には｢段々｣の意味と混用され、16世紀になると｢段々に｣の方が大部分を占めるようになった。17世紀には｢順次に｣の意味では使用されなくなったと言えよう。｢改修本｣の書かれた18世紀には｢順番に、順次に｣などの意味では使用されなくなり｢じゅんじゅんに｣などに取って代わられたものと思われる。現代語においては文語的な特徴を持って｢時間と共に緩やかに拡大していく進行｣を表す意味で使用されている。
