This study set out to classify the psychological characteristics of violent students in school and examine whether psychological education for the subtypes would have effects on school violence awareness and motivation for change. For these purposes, the study formed a treatment group and a control group. The treatment group was asked to fill out a survey questionnaire to classify their subtypes of violent behavior to others over two sessions. After checking the outcomes of their subtypes, the investigator provided them with psychological education including future treatment plans and strategies according to their subtypes as well as the content about psychological mechanisms related to violent acts. The control group also took the survey to figure out their violent subtypes but received no treatment. The two groups were then compared in scores of school violence awareness and motivation for change through a covariate analysis to test differences between the pre- and post-test. The results found significant differences, statistically, in the school violence awareness scores between the treatment and control group. While there were no significant differences between them in the scores for motivation for change in the pre-contemplation stage, there were significant differences between them in the scores during the contemplation stage. These findings indicate that it helped to increase school violence awareness and promote motivation for changes in the contemplation stage to consider the psychological characteristics of violent students in school, classify their subtypes, and provide information about the recognition of the subtypes and treatment plans. These findings are expected to serve as part of intervention strategies to increase school violence awareness of school violent students and promote their motivation for change and also of motivational interviewing strategies in early stages of counseling.

본 연구에서는 학교폭력 가해 학생들의 심리적인 특성을 유형화한 후 유형에 대한 심리교육의 실시가 학교폭력인식과 변화 동기 증진에 영향을 미치는지 확인하였다. 이를 위하여 처치집단과 비교집단을 구성하여 처치집단에는 2회기 동안에 가해 유형 구분을 위한 설문을 실시하여 자신의 세부 유형을 구분한 결과를 확인하고 가해 행위와 관련된 심리적인 기제에 관한 내용과 유형에 따른 향후 치료 계획과 전략이 포함된 심리교육을 실시하고 대기자 비교집단에는 가해 유형을 위한 설문조사만 실시하고 아무런 처치를 하지 않았다. 두 집단 간 학교폭력인식과 변화 동기 점수에서 사전 사후 차이검증을 위해 공변량분석을 실시한 결과, 학교폭력인식 점수에서 처치집단과 비교집단 간 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 또한 변화 동기 점수에서는 전숙고단계의 변화 동기 점수는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았으나 숙고단계의 변화 동기 점수는 두 집단 간 유의한 차이를 보였다. 이를 통해 학교폭력 가해 학생들의 심리적 특성을 고려하여 세부 유형으로 구분한 후 유형에 대한 인식과 치료 계획에 대한 정보를 제공한 것이 학교폭력 인식을 높이고 숙고단계에 해당하는 변화 동기를 증진시킨 것을 알 수 있다. 본 연구 결과는 학교폭력 가해 학생들의 학교폭력 인식을 높이고 변화 동기를 증진시키는 개입 전략과 상담초기에 동기강화상담 전략의 하나로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
