This study aims to investigate contents regarding occupations shown in textbook of elementary school high-grade (5-6) students published in 2015 pursuant to revised 2009 curriculum. For this, job analysis from 4 aspects was conducted on 46 textbooks of total 11 subjects. First, investigation was made on suggestion aspect and frequency of occupations and career-related information as per grade and subject. Second, occupations shown in the textbooks were classified into occupational clusters according to 24 medium-classification system of the Korean Employment Classification of Occupations (2012). Third, analysis was performed on total number and appearance frequency of occupation type in the textbooks, and finally, previous occupations and unusual jobs. The result of analysis is shown as follows. First, as for suggestion aspect of occupations and career-related information, occupation-related small unit was 7; career-related small unit was 2; and, other explanations without formation of unit were 26. Occupation names were suggested in the texts, illustrations, and photos, and suggestion frequency of occupations in texts of textbooks was total 884 times, and that in illustrations and photos was total 469 times. Second, according to analysis result of covered occupations as per occupational cluster based on the medium-classification system of the Korean Employment Classification of Occupations, introduction was given in the frequency order of managerial position (15.5%), cultureㆍartsㆍdesignㆍbroadcasting-related position (11.6%), and remaining position was below 10%. Third, according to result of frequency analysis on 504 jobs contained in textbook of high-grade students, it was found that type of occupations with less than 3 times suggestion was 85.6% (425 types) of the whole jobs; and, 111 previous jobs and 39 newborn and unusual jobs were introduced. Discussions and a suggestion regarding career education for elementary school high-grade students were made on the basis of the analysis result.

본 연구는 개정 2009교육과정에 따라 2015년에 출판된 초등학교 고학년(5-6) 교과서에 직업과 관련된 내용이 어떻게 나타나 있는지를 알아보는데 있다. 이를 위하여 11개 전과목의 교과서 총 46권을 대상으로 4개의 연구문제에 따라 직업분석이 시도되었다. 첫째, 학년별 및 교과별로 직업 및 진로관련 내용의 제시 양상과 빈도를 알아 보았으며 둘째, 한국고용직업분류체계(2012)의 24가지 중분류 체계에 따라 교과서에 나타난 직업을 직업군별로 분류하였으며 셋째, 교과서에 나타난 직업 종류의 총 수와 출현 빈도수, 마지막으로 과거 직업과 신생 및 이색직업을 분석하였다. 분석의 결과 첫째, 직업 및 진로관련 내용의 제시 양상에서 직업관련 소단원이 7개, 진로관련 소단원이 2개, 단원으로 구성된 것은 아니지만 직업에 대해 설명하는 내용이 26곳으로 나타났다. 직업명은 본문속, 삽화자료, 사진자료를 통하여 제시되었으며, 교과서의 본문에 제시된 직업의 제시 빈도는 총 884회, 삽화와 사진자료로 제시된 빈도는 총 469회였다. 둘째, 수록된 직업을 한국고용직업분류체계의 중분류 체계에 따라 직업군별로 빈도를 분석한 결과, 관리직(15.5%), 문화ㆍ예술ㆍ디자인ㆍ방송관련직(11.6%)의 빈도 순으로 소개 되었으며 나머지는 10%이하로 나타났다. 셋째, 고학년 교과서에 수록된 총 504종의 직업에 대한 빈도분석의 결과, 제시된 횟수가 3회 이하로 나타난 직종이 전체의 85.6%(425종)로 나타났으며, 과거직업이 111종, 신생․이색 직업이 39종 소개되었다. 분석의 결과를 바탕으로 초등학교 고학년 진로교육에 대한 논의와 제언을 하였다.
