The object of this research aims at Korea and Japan. It is to investigate the influence that the social trust reaches the social engagement. Importance of social capital is verified and the meaningful implication the result of this research that it is trying to examine what the factor promoting the social engagement is will be able to be offered with Korean and Japan. Next, it is same if the analyzed result about the path where it has an effect on the social trust and social engagement Japan and Korea is arranged with the case. Firstly, the informal confidence was exposed to affect altogether the direct influence among the social trust more than the formal confidence to the social engagement with Korea and Japan. Secondly, Japan was meaningful but the causal effects of the social networks and social engagement was exposed to be not meaningful in Korea. Thirdly, the analyzed result of two countries was exposed to be the considerable difference in the route where the social trust has an effect on the social engagement the steps. The direct definition influence was affected to the social engagement but the social networks was mediated and the informal trust was exposed to have an effect on the social engagement in the case of Japan among the social trust. As a result of analysis of this study, more furthermore the developmental maturation of the democracy based on engagement expects to be presented to the efficient management of the region and civil society and country and development as the meaningful basis of an argument.

본 연구의 목적은 한국과 일본을 대상으로 하여, 사회신뢰가 사회참여에 미치는 영향을 규명하는데 있다. 사회참여를 촉진시키기 위한 요인이 무엇인지를 살펴보고자 한 본 연구의 결과는 사회적 자본의 중요성을 검증하는데 한일 양국에 의미 있는 시사점을 제공할 수 있 을 것이다. 일본과 한국을 사례로 사회신뢰와 사회참여에 영향을 미치는 경로에 대한 분석 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 한국과 일본 모두 사회신뢰 중 공식 신뢰보다는 비공 식 신뢰가 사회참여에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 사회연결망과 사회 참여의 인과적 영향관계는 일본은 유의미하지만 한국에서는 유의미하지 않는 것으로 나타 났다. 셋째, 사회신뢰가 사회참여에 영향을 미치는 경로에서도 양국의 분석결과는 상당한 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 일본의 경우 사회신뢰 중 비공식적 신뢰는 사회참여에 직 접적인 정의 영향을 미치기도 하지만 사회연결망을 매개하여 사회참여에 영향을 미치는 것 으로 나타났다. 본 연구의 분석결과가 참여를 기반으로 한 민주주의의 발전적 성숙, 더 나 아가서는 지역과 시민사회 그리고 국가의 효율적 경영과 발전에 의미 있는 논거로 제시될 수 있기를 기대한다.
