This study seeks to explore the fundamental purpose of tertiary liberal art education by analyzing actual cases of recent developments in personality education curriculum, which can develop a sense of citizenship as a member of the community and his or her value of ‘humanistic life.’ This research will look at the case of course at Ewha Womans University, in order to understand how the value of ‘share’ can fit into the educational purpose of personality education that teaches the joy of living together. To this end, the teaching method of the course will be studied in terms of what combinations of theories about share and practical activities are being delivered to the students. Thus, one seeks to redefine the concept of ‘share’ as the broader concepts of ‘exchange’ and ‘distribution,’ and to confirm how such expanded concept can be actualized by various practical activities organized and performed initiatively by the students. This study will demonstrate how one’s citizenship cannot be mutually exclusive to the value of humanistic virtues, and also that theory and practice cannot exist separately in personality education. Consequently, one seeks to discuss how personality education at universities must contain clear alternative social values that lie beyond the current reality, and also about the need for practical personality education methods that can combine theory-based classroom lectures with various practical settings.

본 연구는 ‘인간다운 삶’에 대한 가치관과 공동체적 존재로서의 시민성을 성장시킬 수 있는 새로운 인성교육의 교과 개발의 실례를 분석함으로써 대학교양교육의 본질적 목적을 탐구하고자 한다. 본 연구는 이화여대 <나눔리더십> 교과목 사례를 통해 ‘나눔’이 더불어 사는 행복을 배우는 인성교육의 교육목표에 어떻게 부합할 수 있으며, 이를 위해 어떠한 나눔 이론과 실천활동이 결합되어 교육되고 있는지 교수법을 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 통해 ‘나눔’의 개념을 ‘공유’와 ‘분배’를 아우르는 확장된 개념으로 재정의하고, 이러한 확장된 개념이 학생들이 주체적으로 구성하여 실행하는 다양한 방식의 실천활동을 통해 어떻게 실현될 수 있는지를 확인하게 될 것이다. 본 연구는 인간다움의 가치가 시민성과 별개로 존재할 수 없으며, 인성교육에 있어 이론과 실천이 서로 분리되지 않는다는 점을 보여줄 것이다. 결과적으로 대학에서 인성교육은 지금의 현실을 넘어서는 분명한 대안적 사회적 가치를 포함해야 한다는 점과, 강의실 중심의 이론교육을 넘어 다양한 현장과 결합한 실천형 인성교육의 방법이 필요함을 논의하고자 한다.
