The purpose of this paper was to examine the phenomenon of 'spirit-possession' in Musok from the point of view of psychoanalysis. Musok is the traditional religion of Korea which has existed among the people for a long time. An analysis was conducted on the phenomenon of spirit-possession that happened to Mudang who possessed by a spirit. Spirit-possession is an experience that a certain transcendent being penetrates into the interior of a human body, and is a status of a close contact with a deity. In the point of view of psychoanalysis, spirit-possession is similiare to a status of schizophrenia which experiences delusion, visual hallucination, and auditory hallucination. Spirit-possession is an experience that a human being contacts with a transcendent being in its existing format of a real world. Jacques Lacan asked a question for the subject through the unconsciousness and desire and addressed it from structuralist point of view. Three areas of Lacan's subject formation are divided to the Imaginary, the Symbolic, and the Real, and he explains the concept of the subject through them. The subject of the Real undergoes Jouissance through deviation as the unconscious world existing in beyond the symbolic. In other words, Lacanian subject desires to meet the gap caused by fragmentation from the other. After all, the experience of Jouissance in the stage of the Real is similar with the experience of spirit-possession in Musok from the extreme of desire beyond the Real world.

본 연구의 목적은 정신분석의 관점에서 무속의 ‘신들림’ 현상을 탐구하는 것이다. 무속은 오랜 시간 동안 대중들 속에서 존재해왔던 한국의 전통 종교이다. 분석은 신령에 사로잡힌 무당에게 발생하는 신들림 현상을 중심으로 진행되었다. 신들림은 어떤 초월적인 존재가 인간의 육신으로 들어오는 것을 경험하는 것이고, 그것은 신성과 긴밀하게 접촉하는 상태이다. 정신분석의 관점에서 볼 때, 신들림은 망상, 환각, 그리고 환청을 경험하는 정신분열증의 상태와 유사하다. 왜냐하면, 신들림의 상태에서 인간은 초월적인 존재와 접촉하기 때문이다. 자크 라캉은 무의식과 욕망을 통한 주체의 문제를 제기하였고, 그것을 구조주의 관점에서 설명하였다. 라캉의 주체 형성의 세 가지 영역은 상상계, 상징계, 그리고 실재계로 나누어진다. 그는 그것들을 통해서 주체의 개념을 설명하고 있다. 다시 말해서, 라캉의 주체는 타자로부터 떨어져 나감으로써 생긴 간극을 충족시키고자 한다. 결국, 실재계에서 향락의 상태는 현실 세계를 넘어선 욕망의 절정이라는 측면에서 신들림의 상태와 비슷하다.
