Chinese travel notes written by Koreans in the early 20th century have far-reaching significance on showing the various regions and cognitions, which never appeared in Yon-haeng-rok . In the early 20th century, Influenced by western society, Korea entered into modern times. Personal Travel System was established. It means common people have a chance to travel abroad. Although Chinese infuluence is lower than Japan and Western Countries in the 20th century, its still a mecca for confusianism-intellectuals. Their own Chinese travel notes are included in their own corpus and published in book form. For confusianism-intellectuals, travel to China become different from past times. After Chinese influence is lower, they try to see another side of China and pay attention to the change of China. The contents described in Chinese travel notes at that time are different from the contents described in You-gi and Sa-haeng-rok. On the other side, a lot of newspapers and magazines beginning to be published. Usually, travel notes and advertisements are appear in the newspapers and magazines. Furthermore, the travel notes satisfy the curiosity of foreign countries. The Chinese travel notes written by Koreans in the early 20th century, approach China from different angles. according to a person‘s identity, purpose of tourist and tourist destination, the understanding of China is different. The angels of view also be effected by media, writting style and writting tools. Main purpose of this thesis is, find out the notes, collect and make a list of the notes and examine awarness of Koreans in the time.

20세기 초 조선인이 쓴 중국 여행기록은 그동안 연행록에서 보여주지 못했던 중국의 다양한 지역과 인식을 고찰하는 것에서 의미가 깊다. 20세기 초 서양의 영향으로 근대로 넘어오면서 더 이상 국가적인 공식행사가 아닌 사적인 관광 체제의 수립으로 대중들도 해외로 나갈 수 있는 기회가 주어졌다. 20세기 초 조선의 지식인들에게 중국은 서양과 일본에 비해 그 위상이 낮아졌지만 여전히 찾아가는 동경의 대상이었다. 특히 유교적 교양을 체화하고 있던 지식인들은 자신의 여행기록을 개인문집에 수록하기도 하고 단행본으로 출판하기도 하였다. 격변기를 겪은 유교지식인들에게 중국 여행은 전통시기의 단순한 유기(遊記)나 사행록(使行錄)과 달랐다. 그들은 중국 여행을 통하여 또 다른 중국의 내면을 들어다 보고 ‘중화’라는 문화적 개념의 효용이 떨어진 중국이 과연 어떻게 변화해 가는 지를 눈여겨보았다. 한편 신문, 잡지들이 대거 등장하면서 여행기록이나 소설, 광고들을 지면에 싣기 시작하였고 그 중에서 여행기록은 해외 견문 욕구를 충족시켰으며 이 여행기록들은 각 시대별 상황에 맞춰 변화해 갔다. 20세기 초 조선인이 쓴 중국 여행기록에는 중국을 바라보는 다양한 시선들이 있다. 여행을 한 사람의 신분, 여행목적, 여행지역에 따라 중국에 대한 인식도 달랐고 여행기록을 실은 매체, 체재, 표기수단에 따라 보는 관점도 달랐다. 본 논문에서는 그동안 알려지지 않았던 20세기 초 조선인의 중국 여행기록을 발굴하고 다양한 자료들을 수집하여 목록을 제시하고 검토한 후 전체적인 존재양상에 대해 다루고자 한다.
