The purpose of this study was to discover what effect environmental education by early childhood educational organizations on children's respectful recognition of life and environmental attitudes and to explore the educational meaning and values of environmental education and respectful recognition of changing nature through environmental education. Subjects of this study were 40 private kindergarten students (21 boys, 19 girls) in Yeondong, Jeju-do. Results of the study were as follows: Firstly, test results showed that the experimental group of children, which experienced environmental education connected to story sharing using picture books, was confirmed by post-testing to have increased respectful recognition of life. The three subdomains of respectful attitude, knowledge and actions toward life also showed marked improvement, and theses differences were statistically significant. Secondly, improvement in environmental attitudes was confirmed through post-testing among children who had received environmental education compared to the control group. The subdomains of great improvement, and these differences were statistically significant. Taken together, these research results mean that environmental education connected to story sharing using picture books increased children's respectful recognition of life and had a positive effect on their environmental attitudes.

본 연구는 그림책을 활용한 이야기 나누기 활동을 연계한 자연친화적 교육활동이 유아의 생명존중 인식 과 자연친화적 태도에 미치는 영향을 알아보는 것이다. 이 연구를 위해 실험집단과 통제집단의 유아들을 대상으로 10주간 20회로 그림책을 활용한 이야기 나누기 활동을 연계한 다양한 체험활동을 실시하였으며 통제 집단의 경우 특별한 자연친화적 교육활동이 이루어지지 않았다. 두 집단 간의 차이를 알아보기 위해 t-검증을 실시하였으며 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 그림책을 활용한 이야기 나누기 활동을 연계한 자연 친화적 교육활동을 경험한 집단의 경우 생명존중 인식의 하위영역인 생명존중 태도, 지식, 행동 부분에서 모두 유의한 향상을 가져왔다. 둘째, 자연친화적 교육활동을 경험한 유아들은 자연친화적 태도와 환경보전 태도가 모두 유의한 향상을 가져왔다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 그림책을 활용한 이야기 나누기 활동을 연 계한 자연친화적 교육활동이 유아의 생명존중 인식과 자연친화적 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있다.
