Ogawa Yoko has been concerning about memory on her works. In The Ring Finger(1994), the main character ‘I’ strongly desire to be a specimen ‘myself’ in order to block off her memory. In Love in the Margin(1991), the main character ‘I’ write down the memory on the paper and keep the memory of sadness away forever. In Resuscitation of Lady A(2002), many characters also have the problem of memory inside. But from this work, the shape of memory has been changed. Not keeping the memory but distorting it. The aunt of ‘I’ is Russian about 80 years old. ‘I’ and aunt started living together, and ‘I’ had to take care of her in her mansion with stuffed specimens. The aunt intended upon her needlework on stuffed specimens with initial ‘A’ everyday. It means that the aunt is possessed by memory just like a girl who does needle work in Girl to embroidery(1999). Also it shows the identity crisis of aunt as character A. The aunt stopped doing needlework for the first time when Niko(a boyfriend of ‘I’) visited the mansion and also skipped the needlework when Ohara(who is free writer) called on that day. Ohara regards the aunt as Anastasia who is the last princess of Russia. We can see that her sewing showed the initial from Anastasia. And Atastasia means resuscitation. After their visiting, the aunt changed in every aspect. As guests visit the more, the aunt became the princess Anastasia more. Especially the more the aunt’s memory is clear and detail, the closer she become Anastasia. But as the view of the reader, the fact became not clear and rough. So we can conclude that her memory become distorted gradually.
