University-industry research collaborations gain importance with the advent of knowledge-based society. In this paper, we examine the task and direction of university-industry research collaborations in local community, based on case study which were conducted on research institutes which are in charge of university-industry research collaborations of automotive and shipbuilding industry in Busan region Research institutes surveyed are Busan Techno-Park and its subordinate centers, Pusan Kyungnam automotive techno-center, Korea Marine Equipment Research Institute. In general, university-industry research collaborations are activated in several industries. Difficulties (i.e. cost, time, inharmonious recognitions), however, in university-industry research collaborations does still exist. And we introduce university-industry research collaborations of Fukuoka IST and compare that with research institutes in Busan. Compared with Fukuoka IST in Japan, research institutes in Busan take charge of similar role, but more specific system and whole responsible coordinator were found as a feature. By and large, level of recognition in university-industry research collaborations are high, we conclude that constructing efficient networks among industry-university-institute and solving the human resource or financial problems should be first consideration.

지식기반 경제사회의 도래와 함께 산학협력의 중요성이 부각되고 있다. 본 연구는 부산지역의 자 동차·조선 산업의 산학협력을 담당하고 있는 연구기관을 대상으로 실시한 사례조사를 바탕으로, 지 역 산학협력의 과제와 방향을 살펴본다. 주요 대상 기관은 부산테크노 파크 및 하부센터, 부산경남 자동차테크노센터, 한국조선기자재연구원등이다. 아울러, 일본 후쿠오카 지역에서 유사한 성격의 기관인 후쿠오카 IST 산학협력 내용을 소개하고, 부산지역 연구기관과 비교한다. 전반적으로 볼 때 산학협력의 인식수준은 높지만, 산·학·연 간의 효율적인 네트워크 구축 및 인적·재정적 문제가 해결 되어야 할 과제로 나타났다.
