Today there is a research on the glocal mixed with the concept of global and local in domestic cultural studies. In this research of the glocal we will find a fusion and mixture of the local and world culture. The purpose of this article is to elucidate cultural anisotropy in terms of the viewpoint of the glocal, that is, the intercultural hermeneutics. In order to achieve this aim, firstly I will deal with the concept of anisotropy, especially the cultural and social anisotropy in Bernhard Waldenfels’s viewpoint. And nextly I will discuss the research of the locality in domestic cultural studies and find out the problems of research of the locality. Finally I will suggest the intercultural hermeneutics as a new alternative in cultural studies, especially Ram Adhar Mall’s viewpoint. Through this discussion I will elucidate some values such as cognition and respect for diversity, communication and reciprocity, and co-prosperity and coexistence beyond exclusiveness and discrimination in multi-cultural era.

필자는 이 글에서 우리 사회의 당면 문제들 중, 문화적 이 방성의 문제를 글로컬한 관점, 달리 표현하면, 상호 문화적 해석학의 관점에서 접근하여 해명하고자 한다. 이를 위하여 먼저 다문화 시대 문화 연구에서 왜 핵심 쟁점으로 문화적 이방성의 문제가 나타나게 되었는지를 다룰 것이다. 그리고 이 사안을 해결하기 위한 최근 국내 의 연구 동향, 특히 인문학에서 문화 연구의 동향을 들여다볼 것이다. 이를 통해 로컬리티 중심의 현행 문화 연구의 한계와 문제점을 드러 내고, 이를 보완해줄 대안으로 말(Ram Adhar Mall)의 ‘상호 문화적 해 석학’을 제시할 것이다. 결국 상호 문화적 해석학의 관점을 통해 다문 화 시대에 배제와 차별을 넘어 다양성의 인정과 존중, 소통과 상호이 해 나아가 상생과 공존의 가치를 재조명하고자 한다.
