The purpose of this study is to discuss how to develop the contents of three Sino-Korean novels - “Manboksajeopogi,” “Hongdojeon” and “Cohicheokjeon” that are based on Namwon as digital contents. Namwon is a place that was closely linked to Pansori-style novels, and there have been discussions and accomplishments about this city’s Pansori-style novels as cultural contents. In a historical perspective, however, the tradition of Sino-Korean novels is longer than that of Pansori-style novels, and the former is more likely to be utilized as contents as they were connected to historic incidents. In this study, the matter of promise (one of the cultural characteristics of Namwon described by the Sino-Korean novels) was associated with affection, and “successful love” was suggested as a concept. When an event like a festival is held in an attempt to develop the Sino-Korean novels as contents, making wishes in Manboksa should be introduced as a major part of the festival. In addition, modern variations on various hands-on Buddhist cultural events described by the Sino-Korean novels were suggested in this study as programs of the event. The kind of awareness that this city is a special place for those who are in a romantic relationship to pledge their mutual affection and that their love will surely be successful should be spread. It is necessary to conduct several events such as circling the pagoda, Jeponoli and a lighting ceremony in a modernistic way in order to make all this happen.

본 논문은 남원을 배경으로 하고 있는 한문소설인 <만복사저포기>, <홍도전>, <최척전>의 내용 을 토대로 이들 작품을 활용한 콘텐츠화의 방안에 대해 논의하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 남원은 판소 리계 소설과 관계가 깊은 고장으로 지금까지는 대체로 판소리계소설을 중심으로 남원의 문화콘텐 츠에 대한 논의 및 성과들이 산출되어 왔다. 그러나 역사적으로 본다면 판소리계 소설보다 한문소 설이 더욱 오래 되었으며 실제 역사적 사건과의 연관성이 높다는 점에서 콘텐츠로의 활용 가능성이 크다고 할 수 있다. 이러한 점에서 본 논문에서는 한문소설에 나타난 남원의 문화적 특질로, 약속의 문제 를 애정의 양상과 연계시켰으며, 그 결과 ‘반드시 이루어지는 애정’이라는 콘셉트를 제시 하였다. 그리고 한문소설을 콘텐츠화하는 과정에서 축제와 같은 형식의 행사를 진행할 때, 만복사에서 기원하는 행위 등을 축제의 중요한 행사로 개발하는 것이 필요하다고 하였다. 그리고 이 과정에서 실제로 진행할 수 있는 프로그램으로 한문소설에 나타난 불교문화의 여러 일상적인 체험 행사들을 현대적으로 변환시켜 소개하였다. 즉 만복사에 서 애정의 약속을 다짐하고 그 약속은 반드시 이루어질 것이라는 생각이 축제의 참여자 들에게 인식될 수 있도록 하기 위해, 탑돌이나 저포놀이ㆍ연등행사 등을 현대화하여 진행하는 것이 필요하다고 제안하였다.
