The purpose of the paper is to examine the social implication of in the Taiwan society under the colonial rule of Japan till 1945. Place for is said to be public sphere according to the discussion related with “Structurwandel der Öffentlichkeit” of Habermas Movement of public sphere as ideal type (Idealtypus, German) is to provide public place like arena that viewpoint and opinion mutually competes. Social system of modern society that the movement is most starkly revealed can be said to be mass media that gets to electronic media today from newspaper and magazine. The paper intended to examine how place of public opinion of the 3rd page news was recognized, and through what concept social ethos was formed by tracing social ethos and moral sense that was shown on 3rd page news of newspaper published during colonial period of Taiwan. Epistemology was intended to be pursued about social control for suicide case and widow through the news about adultery and murder as bill. hidden at 3rd page news shows occurrence of negative behavior to all members of society everyday, and has function to make them check social ethos by this daily. It shows that social, moral issue or fact which was not the issue that was not politically controlled existed in the political 136 한림일본학situation of colonial rule of Taiwan by Japan. This study is considered to be the study to show social mechanism of colony better in the future as well as existing colony studies concentrated on history of rule and being ruled, and struggle between both sides.

본고의 목적은 1945년까지 일본 식민지지배하에 있던 대만 사회에서<여론>의 사회적 함의에 대해 고찰하는 것에 있다. 하바머스의 공공성관련 논의에 의하면 <여흥>의 장은 공공권이라고 한다. 이념형으로서의 공공권의 움직임은 관점과 의견이 서로 경쟁하는 아리나와 같은공개적인 장을 제공하는 데 있다. 이러한 움직임이 가장 극명하게 드러나는 근대사회의 사회시스템은 신문과 집지에서부터오늘날의 전자미디어에 이르는 메스미디어라고 할 수 있다. 본고에서는 대만의 식민지 시기에 발행된 신문의 3면 기사에 나타난 사회규범과 도덕관을 추적함으로써 당시 3면기사라는 여흥의 장이 어떻게 인식되었고, 어떠한 개념을 통해 사회규범을 형성해 갔는가에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 특히 법률안건으로서의 간통죄와 살인죄에 대한 기사를 통해 자살사건과 미망인데 대한 사회적 규제에 대한 인식론을 추구하고자 한다. 3면 기사에 숨겨진 <여론>은 사회를 구성하는 전원에 대하여 매일같이 네가티브한 행위의 발생을 제시하고 그에 의해 사회규범을 일상적으로 확인시키는 기능을 한다. 이는 일본에 의한 대만의 식민지 지배하라는 정치적인 상황 속에서 정치적으로 컨트롤되지 않은 이슈가 아닌 사회적, 도덕적 이슈 또는 팩터가 존재했음을 말해준다,이러한 연구는 지배와 피지배, 이 양자간의 투쟁사에 가까운 기존의 식민지 연구와 더불어 향후 식민지의 사회적인 메커니즘을 보다 잘 보여주기 위한 연구로 기대된다.
