This research examines in conjunction with the "Diaspora" to see how the issue of North Korean defectors in the global era. It observes the relationship between North Korean defectors and the Diaspora around the nature of the North Korean defectors, and studies the current status and future prospects. Especially overseas defectors are another overseas Koreans scattered around the world in terms of the Diaspora. North Korean defectors are identified in mechanical relationships formed around the Home-land and Host country, and Diaspora communities in the Diaspora aspects. In the future, when North Korean defectors live scattered around the world with the Diaspora factor, it could be found the purpose and direction to establish their identity and survival. It suggests that, as a diaspora scattered around the world, alike overseas Koreans, North Korean defectors should live as a flexible companion to form their strong community and to build relation between their native country and the country of residence and the strong formation of community.

본 논문은 글로벌 시대에 북한이탈주민의 문제를 어떻게 볼 것인가를 “디아스포라”와 연계하여 알아보았다. 북한이탈주민의 특성을 중심으로 북한이탈주민과 디아스포라와의 관계를 살펴보았고, 현 실태와 앞으로의 전망을 연구하였다. 특히 재외북한이탈주민은 디아스포라 적 관점에서 전 세계에 흩어져 있는 또 하나의 한국의 재외동포이다. 따라서 북한이탈주민을 디아스포라적인 측면에서 모국과 거주국, 디아스포라공동체를 중심으로 형성되는 역학적인 관계로 파악하였다. 이는 장차 북한이탈주민이 디아스포라적인 요소를 가지고 전 세계에 흩어져서 살아갈 때 그들의 생존과 정체성을 확립해 나가고자 하는 목적과 그 방향을같이 한다고 볼 수 있다. 이제 북한이탈주민은 한국의 재외동포와 함께 전 세계에 흩어져있는 디아스포라로서 그들만의 강한 공동체 형성과 모국과 거주국과의 관계에서 유연한 동반자로 살아나가야 할 것이다.
