This study aims to analyze the trends of domestic studies on client violence so as to present the future research direction. Towards that end, 48 studies were selected to analyze their research time, methodology, levels, targets of research, and suggestions. The selected studies were classified into quantitative research, qualitative research and literary research according to methodologies and levels. Quantitative research was classified into descriptive level and explanatory level. Research themes and research targets were classified into quantitative research and qualitative research. Research on client violence began in 1999. There are 28 theses published in journals, three reports, and 17 dissertations for earning degrees. In terms of methodologies and levels, there were 38 quantitative studies, four qualitative studies, and two literary studies. Research themes consisted of emotional reaction after experiencing violence, attitudes about clients and violence, job satisfaction, and intention to quit job for another job. Factors impacting client violence included individuals' characteristics and working environment. Targets of research included diverse territories, working fields, and subjects. Major suggestions included the development of manuals, education and training at the level of an institute.

본 연구는 클라이언트 폭력에 관한 국내 연구의 동향을 분석하여 앞으로의 연구방향을 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 지금까지 발표된 48편의 연구를 선정하여 연구시기, 연구방법 및 수준, 연구대상, 제언 등을 분석하였다. 대상 연구들은 연구방법과 수준에 따라 양적연구, 질적연구, 문헌연구로 나누고, 이를 다시 양적연구는 기술적 수준과 설명적 수준의 연구로 나누어 분석하였다. 연구주제와 연구대상은 양적연구와 질적연구로 나누어 분석하였다. 클라이언트 폭력 관련 연구는 1999년에 시작되었으며 학술지 논문 28편, 보고서 3편, 학위논문이 17편이 있다. 연구방법 및 수준은 양적연구가 38편, 질적연구가 4편, 문헌연구가 2편이 있다. 연구주제는 폭력 경험 후 정서적 반응, 클라이언트와 폭력에 대한 태도, 직무만족, 이직의도 등이며 클라이언트 폭력에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는 개인적 특성과 근무환경 등이었다. 연구대상은 지역과 실천현장, 연구대상자의 범위가 다양하였다. 제언은 매뉴얼 개발, 교육ㆍ훈련 등의 기관 차원이 가장 많았다.
