東南アジア開発途上国のFDIに関する韓日比較研究 ‒ ベトナム、ラオス、ミャンマー、カンボジアを中心に ‒
A comparative study about Southest Asias new developing country between Japan and Korea on FDI - Focusing on Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia -
In accordance with the rapid changes in current economic environment, companies around the world are trying to come up with the best ways to introduce various and innovative management strategies. In addition, those companies choose FDI(Foreign Direct Investment) as a means to increase international market shares and competitiveness. Since 1997 Asian financial crisis, Korean firms have entered markets in developing countries to lower production cost and extended FDI each year to secure market shares. Japanese companies have also changed international business strategies significantly after the bubble economic depression. To avoid trade deficit, they have actively engaged in local production and sales. However, due to recent soaring labor cost in China and Thailand, companies in Korea and Japan are seeking new FDI markets. These companies pay attention to emerging Southeast Asian markets, such as Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia, to relocate their global production network. This study is a comparative analysis of Korean and Japanese companies as regards to foreign direct investment in those emerging countries.
