The major purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of adolescents' self-esteem on the relationship between inconsistent parenting, intrusive parenting and early adolescents' social withdrawal. This research used a Panel Study with the 3rd - 5th-year data of the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey and the subjects were 2074 adolescents. To process the results, descriptive statistics, reliability verification, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and a path analysis were employed. The results of this study are as follows: First, there are significant correlations among inconsistent parenting, intrusive parenting and early adolescents' self-esteem and social withdrawal. Second, early adolescents' self-esteem fully mediated the relationship between inconsistent parenting, intrusive parenting and early adolescents' social withdrawal. Inconsistent parenting and intrusive parenting had significant indirect effects on the adolescents' social withdrawal. Furthermore, basic data to explore the ways of intervening with adolescents' social withdrawal could be introduced.

본 연구의 목적은 부모의 비일관적 양육 및 과잉간섭적 양육이 초기 청소년의 사회적 위축에 미치는 영향과 초기 청소년의 자아존중감의 매개효과를 살펴보는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 한국아동·청소년패널의 3-5차년도 조사 자료를 사용하였고, 총 2074명의 청소년의 청소년을 연구대상으로 선정하였다. 결과 처리를 위해 기술통계, 신뢰도 분석, 상관분석 및 경로분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 부모의 비일관적 양육 및 과잉간섭적 양육, 초기 청소년의 자아존중감, 사회적 위축 간에 유의한 관련이 있었다. 둘째, 초기 청소년의 자아존중감은 부모의 비일관적 양육 및 과잉간섭적 양육이 초기 청소년의 사회적 위축에 미치는 영향을 완전 매개하였다. 부모의 비일관적 양육 및 과잉간섭적 양육은 초기 청소년의 사회적 위축에 유의한 간접 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과를 통해 청소년의 사회적 위축을 중재하기 위한 기초자료를 마련할 수 있었다.
