The objectives of the study were to analyse the content of general agricultural education to 2007~2015 revised national curriculum and to present the problems and organization of general agricultural education in elementary·secondary schools through the review of literature and the content analysis. The analysis criteria were ‘understanding of agriculture’, ‘our living and agriculture’, ‘natural resources and environment’, ‘animal production’, ‘plant production’, ‘scientific agriculture’, ‘agricultural products processing and distribution’, ‘agricultural policy’, ‘agriculture and career’ domains. The major findings of the study were as follows; First, the problems of general agricultural education in elementary·secondary schools were to limit the agricultural contents to ‘technical world’ domain in ‘practical arts(technology·home economics)’ subject. Accordingly, the contents of ‘scientific agriculture’ domain only were presented to ‘technology·home economics’ subject in secondary schools and the contents of ‘understanding of agriculture’, ‘agricultural products processing and distribution’, and ‘agricultural policy’ domains were not presented to ‘practical arts’ subject in elementary schools . Second, the contents of ‘our living and agriculture’, ‘animal production’, and ‘plant production’ domains were gradually reduced to ‘practical arts’ subject in elementary schools and the contents of ‘agriculture and career’ domains were removed to 2015 revised national curriculum. Third, ‘practical arts(technology·home economics)’ curriculum needs to make the new domain related agriculture, to present the contents of general agricultural education in this domain, to organize the organization of the contents of ‘understanding of agriculture’, ‘agricultural products processing and distribution’, ‘agricultural policy’ domains, and to extend the contents of ‘our living and agriculture’, ‘natural resources and environment’, ‘animal production’, ‘plant production’ domains. Fourth, ‘technology·home economics’ subject in secondary schools need to contain the contents of ‘scientific agriculture’ domain as well as overall contents of agriculture.

이 연구는 2007~2015 개정 교육과정기의 초·중등학교 교양농업교육 내용을 분석하여 교육 내용에 대한 문제점 및 구성 방안을 제시하기 위한 것으로 문헌 연구와 내용 분석 방법을 적용하였다. 내용 분석 기준은 문헌 연구를 통하여 추출된 ‘농업의 이해’, ‘우리 생활과 농업’, ‘자연자원과 환경’, ‘동물 생산’, ‘식물 생산’, ‘농업의 과학화’, ‘농산물 가공 및 유통’, ‘농업 정책’, ‘농업과 진로’ 등 9개 영역으로 하고, 이 분석 기준에 의하여 2007~2015 개정 교육과정기에 해당하는 초·중등학교 교양농업교육 내용을 비교·분석한 후 문제점 및 구성 방안을 제시하였다. 첫째, 초·중등학교 교양농업교육은 ‘실과(기술·가정)’ 교과의 ‘기술의 세계’ 영역에 농업 관련 내용을 구성시켜 기술의 하위요소로 농업을 제한하고 있다. 이에 따라 중등학교 ‘기술·가정’ 교과에서는 ‘농업의 과학화’ 영역에 대한 내용만이 제시되고, 초등학교 ‘실과’ 교과에서는 ‘농업의 이해’, ‘농산물 가공 및 유통’, ‘농업 정책’ 영역에 대한 내용이 전혀 없는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 초등학교 ‘실과’ 교과는 개정 교육과정기를 거듭할수록 ‘우리 생활과 농업’, ‘동물 생산’, ‘식물 생산’ 영역에 대한 내용이 축소되고, 2015 개정 교육과정기에서는 ‘농업과 진로’ 영역에 대한 내용이 삭제되어 학교급 간의 연계에 문제가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 초·중등학교의 ‘실과(기술·가정)’ 교육과정은 농업 관련 영역을 새롭게 추가하여 교양농업교육 내용이 명료하게 구성되도록 하고, ‘농업의 이해’, ‘농산물 가공 및 유통’, ‘농업 정책’ 영역에 해당하는 내용의 구성과 ‘우리 생활과 농업’과 ‘자연자원과 환경’, ‘동물 생산’, ‘식물 생산’ 등의 영역에 대한 내용의 확대가 이루어지도록 할 필요가 있다. 넷째, 중등학교 ‘기술·가정’ 교과는 ‘농업의 과학화’ 영역에 해당하는 생명 기술 관련 내용뿐만 아니라 농업의 전반적인 내용을 조화롭게 구성할 필요가 있다.
