The paper will study how the actual settings are treated and what they mean in Yeats’s poetry, and also trace how an arc of his attitude towards the actual in poetry shifts at each stage of his poetic career. Fact and fiction for poetry are closely compared in poems such as “The Lake Isle of Innisfree,” “The Wild Swans at Coole,” “Coole Park and Ballylee, 1931,” “In Memory of Major Robert Gregory,” “A Prayer for My Daughter,” Meditations in Time of Civil War, “Under Ben Bulben.” He often creates poetry by bending fact to achieve the supreme imagination of poetry. The paper is tracing the arc of his shifting attitudes to the actual.

이 논문은 예이츠의 시에서 실제적 배경이 어떻게 사용되고 무슨 의미가 있는지, 또 그의 시의 발전단계에서 실제적 장면에 어떤 형태의 태도를 나타내는지 추적한다. 사실과 시를 위한 상상이 시에서 면밀하게 비교된다. 검토되는 시는 ｢이니스프리의 호반｣, ｢쿨호수의 야생백조｣, ｢쿨공원과 발릴리탑, 1931｣, ｢로버트 그레고리 소령을 추모하며｣, ｢내 딸을 위한 기도｣, 󰡔내란 중의 사색󰡕, ｢벤불벤 산아래｣ 등이다. 예이츠는 시의 최상의 상상력을 달성하기 위해 종종 사실을 왜곡하여 시를 창작했다. 이 글은 실재하는 것에 대한 그의 변하는 태도를 추적한다.
