Today, the cultural industry has been settled down as a high value-added business. Cultures are diversely used as new paradigm for various products and services. Our inherent cultural archetype is the cultural resources deeply accumulated in our lives with our long history. As a great design material differentiated from other cultures, such cultural resources are reborn as materials to create new modern values forming the creative inheritance exceeding the past. Within such flows, the use of cultural contents approached/composed/produced based on the new perspective shows the characteristics of cultural archetype through storytelling while also combining with various elements like domestic/foreign film, animation, advertisement, game, literature, music, and design. The appearance of cultural archetype using storytelling is settling down as a strategic material to more easily approach to the public. Implying our own cultural identity, the cultural archetype is a material for creation with specialty and universality that can form a bond of emotional sympathy. In order to design body illustration by storytelling the historical background and relic of 'Hoam Site' as a historical motif, it would be necessary to establish the basis of body painting with various performances. The objective of this study is to examine the storytelling cases using cultural archetype, and also to extend the width of the creative composition method for beauty design suitable for the paradigm of cultural contents by creating body illustration designs. Composing the research direction through the consideration of preceding researches using cultural archetype, the story was developed after the theoretical consideration of various books, analytical data of cultural archetype of Hoam Site announced by Chungju-si, and mass media. After selecting the theme, the keywords and colors to be used were selected. After setting up the color plan and then going through the thumbnail sketch process, the body illustration work was created for this study.

오늘날 문화산업은 고부가가치의 산업으로 자리 잡았다. 문화는 다양한 상품과 서비스에서 새로운 패러다임으로 다양하게 활용되고 있다. 우리 고유의 문화원형은 오랜 역사와 더불어 생활 깊숙이 쌓여 있는 문화자원이다. 이러한 문화자원은 타문화와 구별되는 매우 좋은 디자인 소재이며, 과거를 뛰어넘어 창조적 계승을 이루는 새로운 현대적 가치창조의 소재로서 거듭나고 있다. 이러한 흐름 속에서 새로운 시각으로 접근하여 구성되고 제작된 문화콘텐츠의 활용은 문화원형이 갖고 있는 특성을 스토리텔링화 하고 있으며 국⋅내외 전반의 영화, 애니메이션, 광고, 게임, 문학, 음악, 디자인 등 다양한 요소와 결합되어 표현되고 있다. 스토리텔링을 활용한 문화원형의 등장은 대중들에게 더 쉽게 다가갈 수 있는 전략적인 소재로 자리매김하였다. 문화원형은 우리나라의 문화정체성을 내포하고 있고, 특수성과 함께 정서적인 공감대를 형성할 수 있는 보편성을 가진 창작 소재이다. 본 연구는 사료적 모티브인 ‘호암유적’의 역사적 배경과 유물을 스토리텔링하여 바디일러스트레이션을 디자인하는 것은 다양한 퍼포먼스의 바디페인팅 토대마련이 필요하다고 사료된다. 이를 위해 문화원형을 활용한 스토리텔링 사례들을 살펴보고, 바디일러스트레이션 디자인을 창작함으로써 문화콘텐츠 패러다임에 부합할 수 있는 뷰티디자인의 창의적 구성 접근 방법의 폭을 넓히고자 하는 목적을 가진다. 연구방법은 문화원형을 활용한 선행연구들을 고찰하여 연구의 방향을 구성하였고 각 종 서적, 충주시에서 발표한 호암유적 문화원형의 분석자료, 대중매체를 통한 이론적 고찰 후 스토리를 전개하였다. 그 다음 주제를 선정하여 중심어 도출과 사용할 색채를 선별하였다. 색채 계획을 세운 후 썸네일 스케치과정을 거쳐 바디일러스트레이션 작품을 만들어 본 연구를 진행하였다.
