The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the irrational gambling belief in gambling addiction. The data that were obtained from a self-reported survey conducted in Kangwon area. The sample consists of a total of 265 University students. and analysis results were tested through frequency analysis, T-test, 2way anova. The results indicate that irrational gambling belief is significantly related with gambling addiction, thus these data reveals the presence of a belief gap with addiction’s pattern. And we found that a gender gap is related significantly with both gambling addiction and irrational gambling belief. Implications of the finding and directions to policing on university students are discussed.

이 연구는 비합리적 도박 신념이 도박중독에 영향을 미치는 주요한 요인인지를 검증하고자 하였다. 대학생을 대상으로 비합리적 도박 신념이 높을수록 도박 중독의 수준 및 도박 행위에 차이가 있을 것으로 보고 이를 검증하고자 한 연구이다. 이를 위해 연구자의 편의표집방식에 따라, 강원도 내 2개의 지역 도시에 소재한 4년제 대 학교에 재학 중인 대학생 265명을 대상으로 자기보고식 설문조사방법을 통하여 수집 하였다. SPSS 21.0을 활용하여, 신뢰도 분석, 교차분석, T-test 및 2way Anova를 통 해 분석하였다. 분석결과, 도박 중독 수준이 높을수록 비합리적 도박신념이 강한 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 도박 유형별로 비합리적 도박신념의 차이가 존재하는 것으로 조사되었으며, 성별에 있어서는 남학생이 여학생에 비해 도박 중독 수준도 높고 비합리적 도박 신 념의 정도도 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 연구 결과를 토대로 정책적 시사점을 제언하였다.
